Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Large size, packed with wooden houses, stables and other historical buildings. Quite informative, it is possible to get an English speaking guide. Look out for a day when some activity is happening - worth every minute of it (although quite many people). Lovely little souvenir shop and refreshment place - do not expect to eat there.

We visited this place on a nice day with event, look for a calendar of events, it is worth. The area is quite big, so plan some time for it. The „pub“ is very simple and needs some time to get what you want.

I can imagine that this place must look great in summer. I recommend to go for a commented tour with some of the ladies working at the place. No need to book anything, just wait for the tour to start when you get to the museum. With explanation of how the things worked back then and with some background stories, the visit is much more interesting than just looking around.
Most of the tour or walk will happen outside, but some of the houses are open and you can peak in.
Since the place has various opening hours during different months, check this information in advance. The tickets can be purchases at the place. It's possible to pay with a card, but the payment terminal is not always catching signal, so there might be a problem with that, we were told.

We visited this place on a nice day, gut nice introduction in english and joined a free guided tour. The area is quite big, so plan some time for it. The „pub“ is very simple and needs some time to get what you want during busy time. When we were there, it was quite fast. Friendly prices.

This open-air museum is located just outside the city of Martin. You can easily reach it by public transport and then just 15 minutes of walk ... it is very much worth to visit it. All buildings are well preserved and maintained.
Spare 2-3 hours for visit ... it really nice walk around this village.

Esta aldeia esta poco de fuera de Martin. Se puede llegar facilmente con transporte publico y despues 15 minutos caminando ... pero vale mucha pena a visitar la.
Deje 2-3 horas para esta visita.

We visited here last month, its an amazing place. When we bought our ticket, the lady realised we were English, she gave us a very detailed folder to take round with us, it covers a large area, around 28 Hectares, and there are over 100 buildings, some are open so you can look inside. they dated from the 1700's to the 1900's. This is a very interesting place to visit, slightly hard to find, but well worth seeing. Its full of History.

We were met by a kind English-speaking guide at the entrance. Many of the buildings are in bad shape. It is not possible to enter most of the Buildings. The explaining texts does not give a proper introduction to the daily life in a Slovak village. Many of the houses are not original but copies. It even seems to me that wrong materials are uses for example concrete instead of clay. There were almost no animals or historic plants in the village. The restaurant did not serve food! You’ll leave the place depressed.

For context, it was below freezing as I ambled far from the parking lot to the entrance (a quarter mile at least), just beyond the entrance lay an exceptional collection of traditional Slovakian folk architecture. To paraphrase Julia Morgan, If architecture is a visual art, these building speak for themselves - and the story here is magical. Highly recommended (suggest a warm and sunny day). The museum is on the outskirts of Martin and GPS not exact, but signs are easy to follow.
