Theatre is located in the centre of Kosice. It has beautiful architecture. It is one of only two theatres in Slovakia, the other one being the National Theatre in Bratislava, to be home to opera, ballet as well as drama.

We recently visited Košice and decided to go and see and opera in the Opera House. we are not knowledgeable about Opera so i will not evaluate the performance but it was enjoyable and a pleasure to be able to see a performance in this historic building. We had seats in the presidential balcony which are amongst the best in the house and only cost 15 euros. This type of activity is out of range for us in the UK so this was a brilliant opportunity to be part of something a bit different.

fantastic experience

Located in the centre of Kosice, just behind the Singing Fountains you cannot fail to see this elegant building.. Inside the theatre is richly decorated with plaster ornaments and the ceiling has scenes of Shakespeare's plays. If you can get some tickets it's worth a visit.

Impressive theatre in the middle of the old town that shows many of the classics and more modern artists in fine surroundings.

Unexpected interior and great opera night.

I went to enjoy Don Giovanni and the first thing that caught my eye was the interior and all the history that it has. Despite the fact that the chairs are old and a bit uncomfortable for long events, I enjoyed a lot the space and the Opera. Great voices and some unexpected interactions with the audience.
And from the second floor windows you can see amazing views of the cathedral, right in front of the theater.
I completely recommend it!

I love this theater from 1899! GREAT interior

I think it is a must when you visit Kosice to go to some play in theater, opera, balet or drama, it is really great experience, nice and historic interior - really great to spent a night and go to Slavia Café after that

wheelchair - they have a ramp, but somebody needs to ask them to open the side door

good seats are quickly sold out, but less good are usually available also before the start of the play

we were talking first rip with our dog, so we had everything planned to do the nature and buildings. From the outside this building is awesome. I've seen some photos of the interior. Should have make an efford to se it from the inside.

I have been at the theater several times to see ballet and opera. Together with the Cathedral they guard the soul of the historical center of the city. Excellent scheduling and calendar of events.

Just a stunning interior; bbook for a play, opera or ballet to enjoy it

I paid 10 euros for a top price seat to see Rigoletto and had a box to myself. The theatre was only a quarter full. Word about the totally hilarious and bizarre staging of Verdi's work had clearly got around. But the view of the inetrior and the overall atmosphere was priceless. A memorable evening
