Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have visited the place in August 2022, on Saturday. Around 16:00 pm, I got an entrance ticket from Box Office (the main door is closed). The woman in a desk was lovely, she speak Polish, Russian and English as well. I paid 6 euro (Miklus Prison + Memorial House of Rackoczi). She took us herself with a small group of people to the prison building and left their around 45 minutes. The exhibition began with 5 min video in English language where you get to know history of the prison and also some info about city walls. 45 minutes in prison and around 30 min in Rákóczi Memorial House is enough to finish your tour.

It’s near the main street next to Rakoczi Memorial House. The building itself has a rich history: earlier two gotic civic houses were connected, it was a pottery workshop from 16. century, a prison and torture chamber from 17th to 19th century. It was named after a cruel executioner of Ferenc Rakoczi. Now it’s a museum and we could visit it. Unfortunatelly there’s only Slovakian information. I think it’s worth a visit.

This is a perfect place to go. You learn a bit about the Kosice walls history and the prison itself is huge underground with a great atmosphere.

Cheap entry price. An interesting visit that takes around an hour. Well worth it. Welcoming staff at the site. It can get crowded when large groups are there.

This place is great, very interesting , but no English signs just audioguide , which is not enough with so many interesting details, still it’s really worth to see.

Close to Craft Lane you will find an unassuming house, the only difference is that ir has bars at the window. For a few Euros you will get an introductory video then you can tour round the prison. The website said the museum was open from 9 am to 5 pm but when we went it was only open in the afternoon. But still worth a visit

You cannot enter from the street, however there is an entrance door. First you go to the Rakoczi Memorial house and the you an access the prison. Video introduction and then you can walk around. Really interesting. Ticket 2 EUR, or 4 EUR if you visit the Memorial House.

Visiting a relative of my wife, she was showing us around. She had never visited this place. It is a local history museum that looks back at the origins of Kosice and how things have changed moving to the present. There are several subterranean chambers, some used as jail cells, some as torture chambers. It’s not as “polished” as a larger (well-funded) museum but it has its charm and is pretty good for a local effort. Recommended.

It was open on Sunday, and glad it was. Only 2 Euro to enter, great video introduction. Wish the displays were in English too, but it was interesting to try to imagine what life was like in the prison for the damned and the executioner alike. Lots of artifacts and you can go into the damp cells. Def worth a look!
