We did a private tour with highlights of Slovakia and visits to villages where my great-grandparents came from. I was impressed with the extent of research Juri did into my family's geneology to find the towns, churches, and gravesites of my ancestors. When we visited these towns, we were warmly welcomed by a town official and priest who helped us understand the history of my family's origins. I was blown away!
Our tour guide for this trip, Tomas, was very personable, extremely knowledgeable, and an absolute pleasure to travel with. He was a very competent and reliable driver, knew a great deal about all the historic sites we visited, and made our trip go smoothly. I wish I could have spent more time with him traveling about the country. I plan to go back to see the villages of the other side of my family and delve deeper into the countries' history and, when I do, will request him again. Thanks guys!!

Slovakia is a beautiful country, the land of my ancestors. My husband and I, our 3 adult children and my sister took a 9 day genealogical /sightseeing tour. Our tour was fabulous . It provided insight into why my ancestors emigrated, what their life was like, what the county was like in the late 1890s and early 1900s, plus customs and culture. Our sightseeing highlights included castles, historic villages, traditional food and so much more. Juraj did extensive genealogical research for us which resulted in our visiting with relatives we had not known before. Because of Juraj's research we were able to visit mills and sites of mills which were significant in the life of my great grandfather, a miller. Juraj was flexible, knowledgeable and very helpful when we had to reschedule our trip because of Covid.
Our tour guide was Tomas. He was very well informed, a great all around guy, who saw to our comfort and was a suburb driver. Tomas made sure we knew that the tour was "our tour" and we could tweak it if we wanted to. When my husband's glasses broke we stopped at a shop to see if they could be fixed. When I wanted to take a picture of a storks nest we pulled to the side of the road to do so.
We have taken many tours, including Viking tours which were great. However "Time for Slovakia" is our best ever tour, a life time experience, not to be forgotten. Nor will we forget Juraj and Tomas. They are now our friends.

We had a great experience from start to finish with Time for Slovakia. We booked a private multi day tour for our family of four. They were really responsive from our first inquiry and throughout the process of planning our itinerary. Patrik our guide was great. He is polite, knowledgable helpful and always on time--but also a lot of fun and a very safe and responsible driver. We found Time for Slovakia to be a 5 star experience in every way and would highly recommend this tour company.

AND IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN ADDED ANCESTRY VISIT LOOK NO FURTHER. (we did that also)
The owner, Juraj Drobka is the master of detail of ancestry and his curiosity for our ancestry information was remarkable.

Or guide was Tomas who didn't just take the plan given him, but with his love of his country expanded it with with history, knowledge, humor, guidance, language help and so much more.
Added to being our guide, he was our expert driver, personal photographer, interpreter, historian, local knowledge buff and also was eager to answer any question we ask. (and we had many)

I am also convinced in seeing how Juraj runs his business that his bar for excellence for all his guides is very high.

Our experience is that the team of TIME FOR SLOVAKIA are indeed, "Memory Makers".

Time for Slovakia is an amazing tour company that provided my daughters and I a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I would recommend this company to anyone. After being unable to trace my Slovak family roots I contacted Time for Slovakia for help. Juraj went above and beyond what I expected. It is evident that he is passionate about his clients; accommodating the details of the trip to all of my requests in order to provide the best experience. He responded to all of my emails immediately and created the perfect itinerary.

Our fabulous guide Patrik executed the trip flawlessly, enhancing our experience. We visited majestic mountains, breathtaking castles and stunning medieval towns. We were able to sample local cuisine with Patrick’s helpful guidance, including a hefty bag of the best smoked cheese we ever had from a cute sheep farm.

If you are considering a trip to Slovakia, book with Time for Slovakia. You are guaranteed a memorable experience.

After a very nice Grand Circle river cruise from the Black Sea to Budapest I wanted to tour Slovakia to locate my family roots. We only had a few days and we wanted a professional guide so I contacted a few agencies. We chose, and we are glad we did, Time for Slovakia.
Our choice was made by the quality of the response we initially received. Juraj, the owner of the company, ask me to provide him with any information I had so he could determine what he could do. I knew the names of a few villages and names so I provided this information to Juraj . Shortly thereafter Juraj replied that he had contacted members of my family and sent me a detailed suggested itinerary, the cost and some family background. He also said he would conduct additional research on my family after the tour and prepare a family tree for us.
Tomas picked us up right on time at the dock in Budapest in the very comfortable company van. We drove to Senec where we were booked into an excellent hotel. On the way we made two stops in the suburbs of Bratislava and met relatives I didn’t know I had. The following days we visited six villages. We met relatives at each stop and, of course, had to have something to eat or drink while we talked. Juraj joined us the second day. Both he and Tomas speak excellent English which was very helpful. We also met with church and village officials. There we were able to examine original records and found information neither my relatives nor I were aware of.
Both Juraj and Tomas know the geography and history of all the places we visited. We learned a lot and enjoyed the drives.
The last day we had to be back in Budapest for our flight the next morning. Tomas took us right to our hotel. However, the next time I’ll be sure to leave from Vienna as it is much closer.
We are so impressed with Time for Slovakia that we are planning to return next year for a tour of the entire country and to revisit relatives. After the tour a couple of relatives will take us to their favorite places.

This was our first private guided tour. We travelled a lot around the world, mostly with family or friends. We always chose our routes, hotels and activities. I was under the impression that it is better to travel by yourself than to be part of a large herd. I went to this trip with open mind, but little expectations. To my great surprise, this was one of the best trips ever. Having a private guide made a lot of difference. Our trip was fully planned in advance according to our specifications. All the travel logistics, hotels and meals were booked and taken care of for us. We had a private tour guide/driver who took us everywhere and fulfilled any desire we had (like stopping at a large supermarket in the middle of the trip to buy Slovakian food...). We were picked up at our hotel in Vienna and taken to a magical tour in one of the most beautiful and pictorial countries. Numerous medieval towns, cathedrals, churches (or synagogues) are perfectly preserved. The scenery seen is of green and lavish hills and mountains with pictorial villages of red roof top and cathedral towers. Steep mountains with snow covered tops and dense forests and rivers everywhere. One of our most exciting adventure was climbing by foot the impressive Spitz castle. Another exciting adventure was the wooden rafting on the Dunajec river on the border between Slovakia and Poland.
Juraj, the owner of the company, personally greeted us at the beginning of the tour in Vienna and joined us for part of the tour. Patrick, our guide/driver, was extremely nice, very polite and knowledgeable and his patience is remarkable. The good thing about a private tour is that it is fully adjustable to your needs/ requests and is very flexible. If you read at night about a site you want to visit, or you are tired and want to end the day early, you can do so with ease.
After this tour, me and my wife decided that that is how we want to travel from now on.
Thank you Juraj and Patrick for a wonderful trip to your beautiful country, job well done!!

Juraj provided genealogical answers that I had not been able to find in many years of research. His knowledge and local expertise made our trip to Nitra and the nearby towns of Senica and Cacov a lifetime memory. Peter Cacov served as our translator and guide to the trip my sister and I took to visit the birthplace of our great-grandfather. Through Juraj's research and inquiries they managed to set up meetings with the priest of the church where our great-grandfather was baptized in Senica and we also visited a museum in a historic mill in Cacov, where our great-grandfather lived. Peter's translation services were critical to this trip as we would not have been able to ask any questions or learn about these places. And Juraj's genealogical research was logical and thorough.
I highly recommend working with Time for Slovakia for anyone looking for family roots in Slovakia. I would also recommend a visit to Nitra as a lovely, quiet town that is easy to get around in and provides a picture of modern day Slovakia without all the traffic and bustle of Bratislava.

We are a group of seven people (same expanded family) - three adults, one teenager and three children.
We've planned to land in Vienna, stay there for one day, travel in Slovakia for six days and then reach to Budapest and stay there two-three days and fly back home.
So our main goal was Slovakia (and that was what we will always remember from this vacation) and we've started to collect information and options and found that there are a lot! So I decided to consult one of the tours / guide companies in Slovakia and Time for Slovakia was the one we saw in TripAdvisor.
And we were lucky!
I had more than dozens mails with Juraj that manages the company. He told us that we can have our tailored made vacation in Slovakia and we went through the options we had, while Juraj was eliminating what was out of the question during this period of the year (beginning of April) and giving us alternative options, always keeping in mind that we have in our group young kids (that wants to play in the snow) so everything will be suitable for them.
When we finished to discuss the options and decided what was best, Juraj sent us a fully detailed itinerary while we did not even paid a cent for his service. This is absolutely amazing!
Juraj told us that our guide will be Tomas, an experiences guide, and we decided that Tomas will pick us from our hotel in Vienna and at the end of our vacation in Slovakia he will drop us at our accommodations in Budapest - just as we've requested.
Tomas was at the hotel right on time. He is a clever young man, has a vast knowledge in history, he is great with the kids, interesting to talk with him about everything you can think of and he is absolutely charming.
Our trip in very short: We had a wonderful time in Bratislava, traveled to Zazriva to an amazing place (we visited the farmer and his live stoke and also prepared cheese) and stayed the night there. We climbed to the Strbske Pleso (the lake was frozen and all the scenery was amazing). Stayed the rest of the vacation sleeping in Poprad. We had a day at Tatralandia (amaizing water park) had a hike in the Slovak paradise (beautiful nature), visited the Demänovská cave (liberty cave - wow!), hang out in Tricklandia (illusion park), we had a ride on the Tatrabob, climbed the Solisko in a cable car (and went crazy with the snow) , visited Spiš castle and visited Banská Štiavnica (amazing journey through an old mine and a visit to local brewery). We traveled about 1400 KM in total!
On all this Tomas was orchestrating, making sure we didn't miss a thing, changing the plans according to the weather (the Spring is crazy in Slovakia - in the same day sun and after awhile, little bits of snow), telling a nice tale about the area we visited, adding stops whenever possible for nice scenery view (and selfies). He also had with him a GoPro cam so he took pictures and videos of all of us to prepare a nice film from this amazing experience.
We were really saddened to bid Tomas farewell at the end of our journey! We felt that a strong bond was created between the family and Tomas and we considered him our friend! (Tomas, don't forget you have promised to come and visit us in Israel!)
Thank you very much Time for Slovakia!
Thank you Juraj and Tomas for the best time we had in such a short stay!

If you were in Nitra and you have not met Juraj you have wasted the trip!
Dedicated, knowledgeable and cheerful guide who wants you to plunge into his city and country, its past and its future. Juraj himself is quite a story but you should learn it first hand. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
