About
The Old Market Hall is a historical building dating from 1910, which serves as an urban meeting point. The venue offers food markets and cultural events. The food markets take place every Saturday, from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm. The sellers are carefully selected, being mostly producers and farmers offering their own products ranging from fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits, dairy and meat products to bakery goods and sweets. However, there are also few small entrepreneurs who offer quality food products from abroad, such as olive oil, ground coffee, tea etc. The food markets are often accompanied by various types of flea markets and other special activities. Situated in the building are also a grocery shop, a cooking school, a soda water manufacture and two coffeehouses. One of them has a children's playground, the other one employs homeless people.

Came here for the farmers market on the Saturday to grab some bits to eat at hotel. Was some really nice food, we bought mostly bakery goods and a bag of salad which was washed and ready to eat. Coffee was also good. At the back next to the coffee place a lady was selling smoked and unsmoked sheeps cheese, I recommend trying this.

The market is relatively small compared to markets in larger cities, but still worth a visit. You enjoy meeting the locals, buying local goods, and eating local food. There are tables where you sit and enjoy eating and people-watching.

As we were going past on the first afternoon, it was just closing so we went back the next day to have a look. It was a relatively small market doing what these markets normally do, selling the normal items and ware. It was just an average market but it was in a lovely building designed by Eiffel.

Great visit to the market hall. A great array of food on show and for sale. Upstairs is some eateries with plates of food big enough to feed many. A beer is available also. A good range of souvenirs and gifts can be bought here.

I was waiting for Saturday to have breakfast and lunch at the famous old market. It actually disappointed me a lot, as I had high expectations. In the covered market they sold local products such as fruit and vegetables and something cooked on the ground pine, records and books on the first floor. Any market

This is a cool old building with quite a few spaces for vendors, and hosts a number of sales throughout the year. Very near Old Town, and often worth a visit if anything is happening. In the front of the building, street food festivals happen fairly often.

Stará tržnica is a grand building which was completed in 1910, it was the first covered market in Bratislava and was designed by František Nechyba. On the site once stood a 15th century bastion which was part of the city’s medieval fortifications. At the front of the building is the Lion Fountain which was assembled from parts of an older fountain and reconstructed in 1937. Stará tržnica is close to the Old Town and is another of the many sights to be seen in Bratislava.

The Old Market Hall is a nice place to pop in to, to get out of the cold and enjoy one of the many food trucks, or browse the many items for sale on the second level. I think everyone will enjoy a visit here to soak in the cool vibes and the warmth of the building.

Nice and warm market hall. When we visited there were lots of stalls selling local delicacies and Slovakian wine. Very friendly and cosy atmosphere. Located near historic part of town.

Old Market Hall ( Stará Tržnica) is a beautiful and evocative building that is one of the landmark buildings in this most beautiful of little cities.
This was the first covered market in Bratislava, building was completed by 1910 with architect František Nechyba clearly designing this building to fit in seamlessly with the grand architecture that abounds throughout this city.
This building makes for some amazing photographic opportunities, the beautiful little Lion Fountain out front looks fantastic.
The actual market was run down during the 1980's but today has regenerated itself with superb market stalls each Saturday showcasing local produce and souvenirs ,some really nice cafes and bars, it is in fact a really popular spot to just chill out and enjoy the local cuisine and drinks.
Very easy to locate on SNP Namesti, a beautiful building, most definitely well worth seeking out if your in the area.
