- Ruth JLondon, United Kingdom175 contributionsWell renovated towerTickets for this were bought at the Pharmacy round the corner. Which in itself is well worth a visit as it is full of bottles, jars, cabinets and drawers that once contained pharmaceuticals. The tower itself has been very tastefully renovated in a simple style. There are several sets of wide, wooden staircases to climb to the top. Easily manageable by most people. The views at the top from the viewing platform outside are well worth the climb.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 11 October 2023
- LW_1594United Kingdom17 contributionsHidden Gem!The tower is historic, picturesque, and well-renovated. It's definitely worth seeing and walking through. I really recommend going up the tower, you can buy tickets at a good price at the pharmacy a bit further up the street and the view of the old town, castle, and chapel is really nice. The tower also has lots of information and artefacts all to do with the tower's history which was interesting to see and read about. You definitely get your money's worth and it was just a nice overall experience.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 November 2023

You can buy tickets in a nearby store to gain entry and climb the stairs for a panoramic view if the city. Interesting architecture that stands out. - Coryy20Port of Spain, Trinidad6,358 contributionsThe climb to the top is worth itThe St. Michaels Tower is truly worth the climb. If you wish to see lots of the towers and streets from above, here is the place to be. To buy the ticker you need to go to the pharmacy about two doors from the entrance of this building. It is rather weird that they don't sell it there. However, once you obtain it you enter and you will be allowed to climb the 5 floors to the top. You can walk all the way around the top for great views of the city. Its a definite must see.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 2 July 2024

The Gate and tower go hand in hand. Great observation, located in Old Town with many restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and attractions shopsVisited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 July 2024

Actually a tower built over a gate into the old town of Bratislava, the tower now houses a small collection of arms and a viewing balcony. Entrance is gained through a door (not easily recognizable) on the right of the tower. Admission is free with the Bratislava Card. The Pharmacy Museum, also free admission with the Bratislava Card, is on the far side of the gate. Housed in an ancient shop, this small museum’s interest lies in its arched ceilings and its beautiful cabinetry. I didn’t linger long, though, due to the prohibition of photography. Had it not been for the free admission, I probably would have skipped these two sites. Perusing the shops and restaurants on the street is far more interesting.

The main landmark of Bratislava old town. At the top of the tower is a statue of the archangel Michael slaying a dragon. Amazing view of the old town from the top of the tower. The cobblestone street towards the gate is very atmospheric with nice cafes, restaurants, souvenirs shops, strip clubs and old preserved buildings. Nice to sit down for a drink. Under st' michaels tower is a golden circle, which illustrates the distances from Bratislava to 29 other capital cities. The only remaining gate left from, the city walls.
Fantastic photo spot.A must see when in bratislava.

Great views from the tower and an interesting Museum on each floor with historic military exhibits, mostly swords and similar. Street leading up to it is so so and a bit touristy. Don't forget the Kilometre artwork on the pavement as you walk under/through the tower.

The St Michael's Gate is the iconic tower which is a remnant of Bratislava's medieval fortifications.
The area surrounding the St. Michael's Gate is now a bustling commercial area filled with souvenir shops, restaurants, bakeries/dessert shops and a strip club(?). I find the crowd here was even larger than in Hlavne Namestie.
Visitors to Bratislava are more likely than not will end up here, perhaps attracted by the green top of St Michael's Tower.

The spire of the tower juts out so can be seen all over town. The tower is located right in the centre of the Old Town. Tickets can be purchased at a kiosk next to the gate but be mindful that it's only open at selected hours so plan your visit in advance.
