So according to the guide Napoleon’s army once got the high ground and bombed the city into submission. Houses burned down and damage was done. Then the stayed in the city for 5 months eating all the food. They made a statue to remember this.

You can find the Napoleon's Army Solder statue, perched over a park bench in the center of the square just waiting for you to plump down for your souvenir photo from Bratislava. And you should do this as well!

The Napoleon's Army Solder Statue is probably the most famous of the quirky statues found around the city center, which includes the Schone Naci (well dressed man tipping his hat), the famous Cumil statue (guy crawling out of the sewer having a rest), the Paparrazi and the Hans Christian Anderson statue.

The Napoleon's Army Soldier statue is a fun little discovery in Bratislava and taking a picture with him is a memorable thing to do in the city center. We also enjoyed finding the other quirky statues as well would happily seek them out if we find ourselves in Bratislava in the future.

Only low review score because the statue has been moved, but no-one seemd to no where....and yet all the tourist information is still showing this as being in the main square leaning on the seat, just like the photo here.

The statue is right in the town square and leaning on the bench, its a nice piece of art with historical significance. The location makes it a very good tourist photo spot.

Most visitors will look at the lovely bronze statue, snap a photo and tell everyone at home, "It's Napolian" with his arms on a park bench looking over the square. Yet, this image is much too large for the short French Emperor, who actually did visit the city after signing the peace treaty(s). One of his generals, came through after the successful Russian campagn and fell in love with Bratislava. He never left but in 1825 started his own sparkling wine company using the French method of making Champagne. The actual name of the soldierr is 'Hubert' and his Club Hubert sparkling wines are still being made here in Slovakia today! Worth the guided tour of the old town, and a sip of good wine as well.

We searched high and low but this soldier was levered off his pedestal, the bench was destroyed, and both have gone to be 'renovated'.

Visited Bratislava today (1st November) and sad to say Napoleons soldier has gone absent without leave!

Walked around for about 30 minutes thinking I was going mental and decided to give up.

Turns out on further consultation with TA I'm not the only one who couldn't find him. Apparently gone for some much needed R&R.

Until next time...
