Judging by the other very positive reviews it seems we struck a very bad day. Guide a uni student who knew v little history and was unprofessional... lost a group member (who'd fallen off!), was impatient with us, poor supervision and poor road instructions ... and road to Divin Castle is not that great for novice cyclists ... and bikes had no bells. It's a long trip! To top it off we got to the castle and we're told bluntly that we'd normally be given half an hour to look thru but it was closed for a festival! We were hungry and bought poor food at one of the takeaway stalls where the waiter was rude then took the ferry back. No hep given to those struggling getting bikes onto the boat. It was awful. We'd biked in London, France and Germany and this trip was on a completely different level. It was our worst tourist experience in the nine countries visited. Sorry guys. ..you need to do some serious quality assurance checks and staff development.

My 15 year old son and I rented bikes from Bike Bratislava and rode to Devin Castle. A fun, very manageable ride. The staff at Bike Bratislava was very helpful. A highlight of our trip.

I enjoy biking, but I am a casual rider. These guys have a great location along the bike path under the UFO tower. I rented on three different afternoons from them. A credit card or 80 euros is needed for deposit. Prices were good, 10 euros for a couple of hours or 16 for the day. I did some different rides which I really enjoyed as they are along the river on bike paths, I was not looking to ride on city streets. I went south one day to the Hungarian border. I went another afternoon into Austria and really enjoyed the village of Berg. Lots of history here that I found interesting. I also went to visit the bunkers of B-S-4 and 8 via bike, which was also very enjoyable. Their bikes are in good shape and you get everything you need.

We hired bikes and cycled to devin castle one day and to Vienna the next. These two excursions were definitely a highlight of our trip to Bratislava.
The cycle to devin castle could be enjoyed by anyone. Gorgeous cycle paths lead the way along flat plains to the beautiful scenery at devin castle. I believe this trip is around 26km in total but can be done at a relaxed and leisurely pace. Easy to navigate.
Day 2 we cycled around 85 km to Vienna. Again the route was largely off road and very flat along cycle paths that run parallel to the river Danube. We found navigating the Vienna end tricky as we did not have a map, and the distance from the Danube in Vienna to the city centre was longer than expected. Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone active who enjoys a challenge- or anyone who is a keen cyclist.
The bikes were in excellent condition and pumps helmets and locks were included. Would recommend that you being sunscreen 👌🏻 and some snacks/plenty of water and the only clear rest stop is hainberg which is only around 20km from Bratislava.

Owner was very understanding when I was ill and couldn't fulfill booking. One of two bike hire companies and this one opens longer and staff friendlier with good English. Bike is good quality and full puncture repair kit provided. Many bike hire shops around Europe provide detailed route maps whereas this shop provided a high level Google satellite map print out. I was expecting more. Got lost a couple of times but really enjoyed my day.

We weren't sure what to do and saw the sign for BikeBratislava outside of our hostel. We decided to go and have a look, and it was well worth our while. Andi was super helpful, and we ended up booking the bikes for 5 hours and taking a beautiful ride to Devin castle. An absolutely stunning trip.
I'd very happily recommend this to anyone!

My husband planned a three week cycling trip for himself which included cycling in Austria and Slovakia. I decided to join him for 5 days of cycling in the Bratislava area, but for only 5 days, I didn't want to bring my bike from Canada. My husband found Bike Bratislava and I rented a great bike for our day trips. The service we received from Bike Bratislava was fantastic as they provided tons of information on where we should ride, how long it would take, and the sites we would see. Super impressed with the cheerful, friendly, and enthusiastic advice. I really enjoyed my cycling (around 50 km a day) in the Austria/Slovakia border areas. We rode to the Devin Castle ruins, over the Freedom Bridge, past an Austrian Schloss, vinyards, along the Danube, around Lake Neusiedl, and a few other areas. I was very impressed with great cycling paths that are found in the area, and Bike Bratislava was very good about making sure we knew where to find these paths. I'd also like to say how great both the Slovak and Austrian drivers were - very, very courteous to cyclists. Many thanks to Bike Bratislava, I already miss my cheerful bright pink bicycle and the great cycling tours you created for us!

Competent and helpful staff - nothing much to say about this one than: Try it. Especially if your "just" staying in Bratislava it is a good way to see some of the scenery surrounding Bratislava.
We rented a tandem and the owner suggested a 3 hour tour to Devin Castle, he explained everything and gave us a map. We had very much fun and I recommend this tour, especially a little café in Devin called "Café Eden".

Hi, is it required driving license to ride a scooter (50cc or 125cc) in Slovakia? Thank you.
Written 29 June 2019
Hello Ralila, yes, it is required. for a 50ccm the driving license is group A50 and for a 125ccm moto scooter it is group A. Alternatively, if you have a driving license of group B (regular cars) for more than 2 years, you can drive also our 125ccm scooter. Thanks

Hi, I emailed twice but failed to get a reply. I also called by phone (from Hong Kong) today, but answer machine says the line is currently not available. May I know if the shop is still operating? I actually want to rent a bike from city and cycle to Devin Castle. If staff see my email, please reply. Thanks. Patrick Yam

Fun bike ride from Bratislava to Devin Castle”. I will be entering the city on a AMAwaterways boat tour which has bikes. Please tell me the route to take from where this boat comes in to the castle and back ASAP. Tks.
Written 17 May 2017
Hello,
the best wouldbe to ask the boat tou operator that is providing you the bikes :). Since we are customer friendly, we can give you a short advice.
If you ride along the Danube river against the flow of the river, you will get to a cycling path that will guide you to Devin Castle. It is a 12km long trip with a ~4 km portion where you will have to drive on the road with cars, rest is all cycling path.
Enjoy the stay!

Thanks for the above answer .
May I ask more information :
Is there any slope of the way from downtown to Hard Devin ? Would it be hard to ride ?
Are those direction signage clear for me to follow ?
Thanks so much for reading my question and appreciate spending your time to answer it.

Here is what I found online at bratislava info (TA won't let me post a link.)
By bicycle: It’s regrettable and illogical, but practically the only you can only get to one of Slovakia’s best bicycle trails (outward from Devin, towards Devinska Nova Ves) is by taking one of Slovakia’s least bicycle-friendly roads (the narrow road through the forest from the main part of Bratislava). The ideal is to get to Devin some other way, and bike the trail beyond. Still, dozens of cyclists brave this route every day. Another option is a new summer “cyclobus”, a city bus that carries bicyclists and their bicycles from the city centre to Devinska Nova Ves every hour.

Hello, there is a cycling path (with an exception of around 4 km where you need to cycle on road in the regular car lane) between downtown and Devin Castle, which is around 12km long.
There are not many opportunities to get lost, but if you'll come to us to rent a bike, we will expain you the directions and give you a map.
In case of any furher questions, do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thanks,

I've found that Hrad Devín is highly recommended by tripadvisors.
Is it work of I ride my bike from downtown to the Hard Devín?I am in a group of 2 people.
If I am not riding bike to Hard Devín, where should I go with my bike?

Hi! You can rent bike as a group and if you mean group cycling with a guide, it is on prior agreement.
