- product-of-canadaToronto, Canada2,482 contributionsIt is a quick stop, and makes for a good photoIt makes for a good photo stop, but otherwise I don't think you'd spend much time here. Access to the inside was closed. I found the angled in the attached photo made for a more interesting shot than the front entrance. But a lot depends on weather and sun position too.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 November 2023
- Kamal PByron Bay, Australia9,518 contributionsVery prominent and attractiveWe travelled some distance from the city in order to see the “Blue church” also known as “Modry Kostol” in Slovak. Blue colour has made the St. Elizabeth church very striking and significant attracting travellers to pay a visit. Blue grey roof and pastel sky blue and its lighter shades on walls have made it a very unique and eye-catching piece of architecture and a building that was outstanding from the rest. The art nouveau style in the church design was admirable.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 April 2024

Was a long walk from the centre and a little difficult to find, but well worth the effort. Memorable !Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 30 April 2024

The Church of St. Elizabeth, commonly known as Blue Church is a Hungarian Secessionist Catholic church located in the Old Town in Bratislava.
It is close in the inner part of the old city but it is not difficult to reach.
This church, built in 1909-1913 is a stunning building.
It is one of the best thing that I saw in Bratislava.
I could not visit it inside because it was close but only for the external architecture, it is beautiful.
Worthy a visit! Definitely

This modest church is a quick walk from downtown Bratislava and should be checked out. I loved the powder blue exterior and there were quite a few tourists milling around just like us. Services were going on inside, so we only had a quick peek. On your walk over, don’t miss the food truck square for drinks and food.

Pretty blue church located within 10 minutes walk from the old town. The church was closed but doors were open but barred so you could see inside though you could not go inside. Interesting school building located across the street from the church. Worth the walk to go and see the church.

Beautiful fairytale church with ditto interior. You should definitely walk by when you are in Bratislava. You can't always visit the church, but you can take a look through the door. From the centre follow the signs (or via maps or a map), you will get there automatically. The church is located outside the center, but you can walk from there to the large shopping center Eurovea and then back to the center via the Donaukade. Then you have a nice round and is good to walk.

Its a bit out of the way, about 15 minutes on foot from the old town centre, in a residential neighbourhood. Really beautiful and cosy from outside, extraordinary architecture remind me something of the the great works of the famous architecture of Barcelona Gaudi. Really unique.Woth a visit definitely.

The Blue Church is kind of unique looking, which makes it unusual to visit/photograph. But it's also kind of off by itself, not near many other things you'd want to visit as a tourist. So if it's a lovely day and you fancy the walk, go for it. But we trekked all the way there in the rain only to find out that it was closed so we could not see the inside. The outside reminded me of an attraction you'd find at Disneyland.

A beautiful church with a bright exterior in the middle of the city. It's not as nice as some of the other churches, but still worth a look. Be mindful that the church closes at certain points during the day so, plan your visit appropriately.

It’s a working church - unusual building. Managed to get inside on a Sunday for a quick (respectful) look. If you are in the area, then wander by (just outside the old town, not far from the new mega mall that’s been built next to the Danube).

In auto ci si può arrivare? E dal centro quanto dista a piedi?
Written 26 August 2016
Di certo ci si potrà arrivare anche in auto, ma di certo è meglio andarci a piedi e dal centro in un quarto d'ora ci si arriva. Bratislava è una capitale, ma il centro è piccolo!
