Beautiful city - worth a visit
Bratislava is like many older Eastern European cities, a mix of old culture and modern living. We have enjoyed the old town with castles and churches the most, but also appreciate many of the restaurants, bars and malls. Reason for not giving a 5/5 rating, is the touristic impact especially in the old town area . This is a shame. Everything else is great and we could easily swing by another time.

    Funny guy, Cumil!
Funny little guy in old town, you don’t need to go out of your way to see him. You will almost certainly stumble upon him soon enough on your travels though the streets. Cool guy, lots of people queuing to take pics with him, I like what he represents :)

    Funny and original!
A great and funny idea that is a sure tourist attraction in the historical centre of Bratislava. Please keep that in mind if you want a picture without other people or with your own company and choose a time when there are not too many tourists around. Otherwise you might wait and wait for your turn of a decent picture...

More cities need whimsical art like this
We are early risers, and there was no one around for photos. Fun 'Easter egg' art like this should be more common in big cities. Prague has this down pat with their yellow penguins, Černý babies, embryo, peeing statues, and so on. I wish Toronto would do more of this.

    Most photographed statue
The statue of a man climbing out of the sewer, relaxing for a bit with a benign smile on his face is quite popular with tourists. It is located on the corner of a street near the main square, outside a jewelry shop. Amongst the many statues dotted around the old town of Bratislava, this one is a quirky little thing.

A sculpture with a great expression
We heard his name was Cumil and he was attracting loads of visitors. The sculpturist has created a beautiful piece that gave a lively expression of a sewer cleaner. He looked tired may be after attending to a serious blockage or he is contemplating what to do to clear a blockage. Anyway, it may be a thankless job but deserves highest appreciation as an efficient system to provide a hygienic lifestyle to city dwellers rest on persons like him. Great way to recognize services that are seldomly observed.

This statue will stand out to be remembered. It’s very unique and clearly loved by all. Surrounded by folks taking pictures and rubbing his head. A must do.

He's just a fella!

Travelling in non peak months is great because you get away from all the people lining up to take photos.

Not difficult to miss if you're walking around the streets.

It is a cute and fun statue, also to take pictures with. There are also fridge magnets of it in souvenir shops.
It is one of the things that come to my mind when I think of Bratislava. :)

Did not realize that this small statue had a name, but did learn the story behind it on our tour. Many of the streets had interesting markers and manhole covers, but this beats them all.
