Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This building is cool looking and it’s right by the water. I went there later in the day. It was 445pm and the gentleman said they close at 5. He was very polite. Would have liked to see more than the outside.

Entry for an adult was 6 Euro. On the ground floor it had an exhibition focusing on china and the Habsburgs. At the first floor rocks and fossils, and on the other floors stuffed animals, birds and so on. A lot to take in.

Under this name are actually several museums, placed not only in Bratislava but throughout the country. Among those in Bratislava I think worth more than a short visit the Natural History Museum,Bratislava Castle and Museum of History(placed in the castle).

This place is open early and has cheap entry. So worth it if you have time to kill in the morning.
It’s pretty much the same as every other natural history museum you have ever been too, though.

Slovak National Museum was a splendid looking building we chanced upon as we were wandering around this part of town and what a superb structure this is.
I never ventured into the museum as it was closed but I was suitably impressed with the facade of this great looking museum building, it has a Greek classical look to it, there's an interesting statue out front to Socha Tomasa G Masaryka that is very imposing and makes for some great photographic opportunities especially with the fantastic museum as a stunning backdrop.

My husband and I visited today and were profoundly affected by the images and descriptions in the Plicka exhibitions featuring his work to capture the traditional culture of the Czech and Slovak people during the last century. The photographs themselves are stunning. I'm am moved to see more of his work and view his films. There is a further display of photographs of historic sights and marvellous landscape of this fascinating nation. The permanent displays of natural history and music are exceptional. All clearly and intelligently laid out. Wish we had more time to spend here.

We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits on all the four floors. There was a display of photographs and camera equipment used by Karol Plicka, a very impressive artistic individual; musical instruments and the history of local folk and classical music. We found the exhibition of the development and evolution of life beautifully put together, and educational. It is captivating for seasoned scientists as well as young children. There is a huge array of fossils, animals, birds, insects and fishes of all shapes and sizes, and it includes the usual favourites like the woolly mammoth. The mineralogy section is also very good, and includes meteorites. Everything is beautifully and artistically displayed and carries explanations in English.
Definitely a museum not to miss, I think. And it's location next to the beautiful Danube river is a touristic bonus.

We visited this museum, primarily to see its fossil and mineral collections, which are extensive and excellent.

We were very surprised, however, at how diverse and interesting many of the other exhibits were, and how much of the signage was in English. There is a charming little exhibit on fossils in myths and legends, which explains how items like mammoth and shark teeth were perceived in folklore - like sharks' teeth being known as moon wolf teeth, lost when biting the moon! Really good fun!

We spent a whole afternoon here, much to the delight of an older staff member, who spoke a little English, and had a son in Australia. He made sure we saw all the Australian minerals in the collection!
