This lovely fountain sits right in front of the Grassalkovich Palace. In the center of the circular fountain is a large-scale sculpture of a ball with a diameter of 9 feet and weighs 2 tons. It is made out of granite, basalt tile and stainless steel and was unveiled in 1982. It was designed by Tibor Bártfay, Valérie Triznova and Pavel Vaj. The sculpture symbolizes the planet Earth, which is surrounded by doves, dug into it in the form of negatives, reliefs. There are 230 nozzles that spray water high into the air.

When we visited it was still at the end of winter and the fountain was still empty. It is in a large square in front of the Presidential palace but I didn't find it one of the best fountains I've seen. May be prettier in summer when its going. Will have to go back and find out.

Drove past on the way to my hotel at night at it looked amazing lit up. Went back the next morning at spent a few minutes just sat watching peacefully. Just be aware that there are some homeless people that use this area to rest!

In front of Grassalkovich Presidential Palace in Hodžovo námestie is the planet of peace fountain which is a short distance from Bratislava Old Town. The fountain was completed in 1982 and consists of a 3 metre globe complete with flying doves depicting peace. The fountain is striking and having the presidential palace as a backdrop gives it even more presence. We visited a few times and the fountain attracted a lot of attention whenever we visited, it is one of many attractions in Bratislava that has to be seen.

Although the square Hodžovo Námestie is a bit of a non descript concrete square it houses the beautiful Fountain Of Peace and with the stunning Grassalkovich Presidential Residency as a fantastic backdrop is worth the short trip from the magnificent Old Town.
The fountain itself looks superb, commissioned in 1982 ,the globe is beautifully detailed especially the doves engraved on the globe that is very photogenic indeed.
We were bar and pub hopping down Stefanikova Street and passed through the square at night ,the fountain looked amazing and made for some great photographic opportunities especially with Grassalkovich Presidential Residency in the background.
Easy to locate on Hodžovo Námestie and most definitely well worth checking out.

I visited in November so the water had been turned off and drained from the fountain, which is a shame because it's actually a great looking fountain and one I think is worthwhile seeing.

I would have liked to see it in full bloom. The patterns on the globe are great and just the grandeur of it, which you don't understand the size and space perspective until you're actually there - it's huge!

The Presidential Palace is right in front and you can see the soldiers patrolling the palace. They move around ceremonially throughout the day (maybe every 30 minutes to 1 hour) and based on the looks of the soldiers the day I was there, they do like an audience! Makes them more enthusiastic as they swap positions and walk end to end of the perimeter.
