Peter and Jane are the best. They are experts at tailoring a tour to fit your needs. I traveled with them as part of a small group tour and had an excellent experience. The itinerary was the perfect mix of castles, churches, festivals and mountains. The pre-arranged meals were exceptional, and the restaurant recommendations for our free time were solid. I never felt rushed, and am amazed at how much we saw in just a short 10 days. The tour exceeded all of my expectations. Peter is tremendously knowledgeable about the history of Slovakia and it's people, and his enthusiam was contagious.

After the tour, Peter arranged for a driver/translator to take me to my ancestral village to meet long lost family. Again, it was a top-notch experience all the way around.

For me, this was a trip of a lifetime. I am so happy that I chose Peter and Jane to make it happen.

Personalized tour of Bratislava and nearby family village

I had limited time at the end of my trip to Hingary and Slovakia to squeeze in a day in Bratislava as well as search out a nearby ancestral village. Peter was recommended to me by a genealogist I traveled with earlier in my trip on the eastern side of Slovakia.

Putting together my itinerary with Peter was pretty last minute, having only made contact with him about two weeks prior to departing for Europe. He was available for one of the two days I was in Bratislava, and he promptly put together a wonderful itinerary tailored on my interests.

For the actual day of touring, he was on time, with his van well outfitted for the day with water for us. We made the trip to my family's village where he was able to get us inside the local church, then stopped by Devin Castle on the way into Bratislava for our walking tour. He was flexible with us as we made a stop at the Slavin Monument at my request.

Overall it was a wonderful day, and Peter was very gracious in sharing stories of his upbringing as we shared family stories. I look forward to a return trip with my daughters, and will definitely be in touch with Peter for some of the planning.

Excellent tour service

One of the best companies to use, we took a tour to Bojnice Castle and Cicmany Village. The driver was punctual, safe driving, clean car, informative and friendly driver Thomas. We are 100% satisfied, and we highly recommend the use of this company. Worth the money paid.

We found family that we didn't know we had!

My brother and I had a marvelous time! This was a truly wonderful tour and Peter is an outstanding guide. Peter picked us up from the Vienna airport and took us directly to our hotel. I had done some genealogical research prior to the trip and was able to tell Peter the villages we wished to visit during our tour. He picked us up in a well maintained, almost new Mercedes van, and gave us detailed information about the villages during the tour. He is smart, articulate and very knowledgeable. With Peter's help, we were able to find relatives we didn't know existed! Peter helped in our outreach to them, took us to meet them and served as a great translator, since we don't speak Slovakian. We now have new relatives in Slovakia, which made the tour priceless. The tour was just great and I strongly recommend Best Slovakian Tours. Peter also does tours throughout Central Europe and Italy and we will contract him as we plan to do a similar heritage tour in Italy in the next year or so.

Outstanding Walking Tour of the City of Bratislava, Slovakia

Peter Blazicek of Best Slovakia Tours took 12 of us good friends on a city walking tour of Bratislava. Peter gave us a comprehensive historical explanation of Bratislava's 1000 years of this city's importance in the country of Slovakia and its connection to Europe. Bratislava is strategically located on the Danube River. Bratislava's history dates back to the 5th and 6th century AD. Bratislava was the Slavic Empire of the country's largest city. Peter also explained how Bratislava became the capital of the First Slovak Republic in 1939. We walked from the lower portion of the city to the castle which was built in the 9th century. This castle sits a top a hill above the Danube and provides a marvelous view of the city. Eleven kings and eight queens were crowned in Bratislava. The old town has a Gothic architecture and was built in the 14th century. Our tour ended at a traditional authentic Koliba restaurant; Peter showed us what to order on the menu.

An Unforgettable Experience!

My husband and I traveled with eight other adults for a ten day tour which spanned the entire country of Slovakia. This was not only our first visit to this beautiful county, but also our first to Europe. We were somewhat uncertain as to what to expect, but upon arriving for our tour, we found we were in great hands! Peter and his wife Jane had planned every aspect of our tour perfectly! We traveled in a beautiful 20 seat Mercedes bus. Our driver, Roman, was outstanding and did a fabulous job in getting our group safely from one town to the next. Sites visited included Bratislava, Banska Stiavnica, Spania Dolina, and Bandka Bastrika, all centuries’ old mining towns, and the breathtaking Tatry Mountains where we rode a gondola to the mountain top. We saw the Orava Castle, the rural areas of the Saris Region and medieval town of Bardejov, as well as the gorgeous town of Levoca. Churches and more churches everywhere!! We then ventured on to Kosice where we had the opportunity to spend the day with my Slovak cousins and tour the magnificent St. Elizabeth Cathedral. On our journey back to Bratislava, we stopped and toured the 11th-12th century Spis Castle. While in Bratislava, we enjoyed a walking tour of Slovakia’s capital and all its many magnificent landmarks!
Peter was a true professional throughout the entire tour, helping us with every aspect of our travels from carrying our luggage to and from the various hotels, arranging transportation when needed, and providing a wealth of information of his beautiful country! We would suggest for anyone who is considering this tour to have a great pair of walking shoes because there is A LOT of walking involved, much of which is uphill! However, the views which await you at the top of those hills is something you won’t want to miss! The hotels in which we stayed were top-notch, and all of the meals which were provided for our group were truly outstanding! This tour was not only educational, but also intimate and just all-around lovely. It’s great for those who have never visited Slovakia before as you get to see so much of the country! Thank you to Peter and Jane for providing this wonderful tour for Mike and me. We made so many life-long memories!!

Our family traveled with "Best Slovakia tours" company to Slovakia in September 2023. It was our first time with this company and not our last. Peter, the owner of the company, was very efficient from our first email, he always answered all our questions very quickly, courteously and built us an itinerary in a very professional way that met exactly our needs. Martin was our guide in private family tour in Slovakia for 5 days. Martin was fantastic guide. Lots of information, great knowledge, punctuality, sensitivity (even helped us to buy medications when we needed), patience, helpful and always making sure we were pleased. The trip was an amazing experience, we spent 5 magical days with Martin, we reached stunning, different and unique places in Slovakia. During the trip Martin told us about every place we passed along the way that has historical importance. The trip was flexible and suited our needs and requests. Martin took care of us all the time with a lot of dedication, we enjoyed professional and responsible driving and his desire to satisfy our wishes. He has very comfortable vehicle that every morning was very clean with cold water for us. We never stopped enjoying the experience that Peter and Martin created for us. Traveling with Martin was an amazing experience, he made the trip more than perfect and we enjoyed every moment. We strongly recommend everyone to use the services of Peter and Martin, you won't regret it

It was a privilege and a pleasure to visit Slovakia and Hungary and Vienna with you!!! Everything about this trip exceeded my expectations. Your careful planning of our itinerary giving us a great view of our ancestors' homeland was especially meaningful. The comfortable travel schedule, hotel arrangements, dining and free time suggestions were all wonderful. The lovely dinner at your home hosted by you and Jane was very special. Family Heritage Tour

My sister and I, and three cousins, asked Peter to take us on a tour that would include two small Slovak villages that our grandparents grew up in before emigrating to the US at the end of the 1800s. We also wanted to see highlights of Slovakia and spend some time in Budapest and Vienna. He put together a wonderful itinerary, booked nice hotels for us, and transported us in his comfortable van. We had such a great time—way better than we expected—and learned a lot about Central Europe. I hope to take another tour with him someday. It was great, and so is he!

Heritage tour of Chlebnice Slovakia

Best Slovakia Tours gave my family a great experience. We took a 4 day trip from Budapest through the central part of Slovakia starting at Kosice through to the Tatra mountains, where my grandparents came from before immigrating to America at the turn of the last century and the we went on to Krakow. Michal Razus did some genealogical research and found some distant relatives in Chlebnice whom we visited and had a warm afternoon connecting.

Martin was our guide for the tour and he was great. It seemed like everywhere we went Martin ran into friends and colleagues. He ran into so many people that I called him the Mayor of Slovakia. When I needed to print some genealogy papers for my visit, Martin just took a 5 minute detour and found a friend who let us access his home office to print.

Martin was a great interpreter, and he is very knowledgable on the history of Slovakia. He was our designated driver, so we could enjoy shots of slivovitz with my new found family. The experience was way better than I had ever hoped for. I give my thanks to Peter, Jane and Martin; they were great advisors and companions through the whole experience from booking to touring.
