Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The castle area of Banska Bystrica is the oldest part of the town. The castle complex was built in the 12th and 13th centuries, and consists of both religious and secular buildings. All that remains of the original town walls and the castle's 18 bastions are three bastions and one long section of wall. The complex also includes the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary, which was built in the Romanesque style in the 13th century, the Church of the Holy Cross dating from 1492, the Matthias House constructed in 1479, The Barbican, and the Old Town Hall.

It is best to tour the area with a local guide who will identify the buildings, and provide the necessary historical perspective.

Monumental church placed very close to main square was built in middle age from donation of german miners (church is called German church). Beautiful altar made by famous sculptor Mister Paul is one of the "must see" places. Problem is to find the church open for travellers and to find any person helpful for visitors.

Like everything in Slovakia, the town is modest but full of charm. It is a nice a area to stroll around and immerse yourself with your surrounding. It is relatively quiet and clean. I really enjoyed the visit

I was walking with a couple of friends when we went to visit this church in Banska Bystrica center.
It’s really beautiful! It’s worth going and having a look at it.
Here is a picture I took of it.

Another quaint old town we went to during our 2017 European tour is this one in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. One of the smallest I've seen compared to the other old towns in Europe but definitely is not lacking in charm. One would find a lot of old structures in the town center which would be great photo opportunities for shutterbugs. Likewise lined with restaurants and small shops, this small town center definitely has a lot to offer its visitors. An off the beaten path destination if I may say so myself.

Attractive buildings and a local produce market nearby with a speciality local cheese stand, and plenty of fresh fruit stalls. The quality of the produce was much better than we have in the UK and its a good place to but food for a picnic

When visiting the city center of Banska Bystrica- it is just a little walk to the castle area- nice, but not outstanding .

This was part of the walk we took round the town.

There is a selection of churches and other architectural buildings of interest.

The churches are all nice inside but don't visit during a mass.

A few moments in this place made me happy. An example of a well-preserved old town clock and beautiful small town.
