Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Decent coffee, small variety of cakes and biscuits but they are OK. If you are really interested in lavender, particularly the history of lavender on the Tihany peninsular, then there is a film you can see here. The shop sells good postcards, by Hungarian standards, and a variety of lavender-themed objects (as do many shops in Tihany) most of which are NOT made in Hungary, let alone in Tihany. But some are Hungarian made - check the labels if you are shopping for authentic lavender products. Excellent, good quality and cheap t-shirts with Balaton Uplands animal tracks on them - I love these, often buy them as presents and they are our main reason for going to the Lavender House occasionally. The place would have more stars if only the shop took cards - cash only. That is unacceptable in this day and age, and unfortunately it is still far too common to find this in Hungary. Next to the Lavender House is the inner lake, a fishing lake. There is a rustic bridge you can walk along in the reeds, with descriptions of the wild life you can see in and around the water. Let me know if ever you see any of them! I've never even seen an egret, a bird that is very common around at the Lake. Souslik can be spotted on the old football ground by the Lavender House as well.

In this Museum you will get a 20-minute-movie about lavender and its cultural and scientific history. Also there are workshops about lavender, which is very nice also for children. For example we did get a glass of lavender jam for free, which was freshly produced right in front of us and the children did make handcraft flower sets with lavender.
Also there is a nice little coffee shop (many drinks and sweets with lavender ingredients, you should really try the fantastic kakao with real lavender chocolate) and a shop with many lavender products.

I am confused to find the reviews saying the items are not original and it is not worth it. Maybe it improved over time or maybe some of the complex cosmetics is produced elsewhere. I bought really delicious lavender cookies and even better lavender tea and also a soap. All produced in Tihany with the name and address of the specific workshop. The prices are very affordable. The museum itself is small (only one room), but cute and interactive. There are information about both - the geographic area and the formation of the peninsula and about lavender. At the end they project 30 minutes movie about lavender and the history of its usage. It is cute and children-friendly, but I do not get, why other reviews keep saying, it is “for children”, I learned a lot there. The museum ticket is only 1900 HUF (around 5 EUR), so they are aware, it is small and are staying visitor-friendly. In the café they serve a very delicious local lavender tea for about half the price you pay normally for mass-produced teabags in normal cafés or restaurants. In front of the house there is a meadow full of different wild blossoming flowers and a sidewalk around the lake with pictures of animals living in the area. Oh, and inside the house there is playing sweet relaxing music and everywhere is the nice smell of lavender. For me the biggest highlight of my visit to Tihany and largely unexpected. Affordable, cozy, relaxing.

This was a disappointing stop as it is most oriented for children. It’s a good exhibit but I don’t recommend it for adults.
