Reminds me of my Catholic faith !
Oct 2019
The 3 crosses are erected in a simple garden. One can restfully meditate or pray. It is good to be reminded. An added monument of faith by the Abbey grounds !

Route to Calvary.
Jul 2019 • Solo
In the pearl of Lake Balaton, Tihany the little village has the Via Dolorosa, the way that mimics the painful route of Christ carrying the cross through Jerusalem to Calvary. The fourteen stations all have a bronze relief, to mark the stops along the way of Jesus.
The music of the Cicadas accompanied me along the path, which filled the landscape with peaceful tranquility. After the white marble stairs, you can walk up to the Calvary on the gentle rising grassy hillside. The top of the hill, where the three crosses are, offers beautiful views of Lake Balaton and the Benedictine Abbey. When the lights come on at night, the place is particularly dramatic.

Beautiful place
May 2019 • Couples
Surrounded by the beauty of Lake Balaton and the picturesque cottages of Tihany this is a sobering walk up a gentle slope through the stations of the cross to the crucifixion.

Even as a secular person this is an atmospheric and moving place.

Great spot for photos
Jun 2017 • Family
Amazing view with extra added value. When in Tihany, you shouldn't miss taking a walk up the hill. It is not a great effort and the view of the Balaton Lake will compensate the time spent going up. Amazing spot to take photos, too.

Moving and beautiful
Jun 2017 • Family
This is one of the hidden gems of this magical place. As a Catholic the stations of the cross move me but these are so beautiful so huge so imposing that it checks in my throat everytime I see it.
Well worth the visit.

Surprise Seven Stations of the Cross at Tihany
May 2017
On the cobble stone pathway to Echo Point at Tihany on the Balaton, you'll discover Via Dolorosa - the seven stations of the cross where you walk up a gentle hill to the Cruxifiction - it's peaceful and impressive - and built as a stand against Communism where religion was no accepted.

Hear the sigh of Jesus
Sep 2016 • Friends
Climbing the steps with the 14 baroque stations of the symbolic street of Jerusalem believed to be the path that Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion you'll arrive to the top of a little hill. Great views of the lake Blaton and if you are lucky with the appropriate wind coming from the right direction your sigh will be heard by the others echoing at the bottom of the slope just as Jesus was heard under the Golgota.

Worthy to walk at the top
Jul 2016 • Couples
Nice place, only short walk needed to get at the top. Statues on calvary are spectacular. Also nice view on abbey, Tihany and lake.
