Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On the same day we visited the Szabo Chocolate Museum in Budapest in the morning and in the afternoon the Szabo Marzipan Museum in Szentendre.

The comparison is definitely won by the museum in Szentendre. Here are the much more interesting exhibits on display. Several large figures from Marzipan (including a life-size statue of Michael Jackson from Marzipan) can be admired.

Unfortunately, it is not shown here how the marzipan production takes place, but rather only what can be made of marzipan for figures. Seen in this way, I always find it a shame that you don't get any information about the actual building material.

Inside a marzipan store and coffee shop with delicious chocolate! There is the marzipan museum. An invested museum that mostly displays childhood stories made of marzipan. Made amazing, we entered without expectation and were surprised by the good.

I am a marzipan lover and know how a quality marzepan should taste. I has already visited this place a year ago, but wanted to see it again. The objects are impressingly made, with a lot of precision, patience and craftsmanship. Most objects, small and large, are just amazing! An earlier review mentions that it looks like wax and I agree with that. Nevertheless, it is very lifelike.
You can buy marzipan and other sweets in the shop. In order to appreciate the quality of the marzipan, I always test the pure substance, that is with its natural flavour, i.e. no added flavours and no chocolate cover. I was surprised (and disappointed) to see that they had no plain marzipan on sale. I remember that I had their plain marzipan a year ago and I gave it a 6 on the scale from 1 to 10. Not enough sugar and not enough almond. But I realise that this is a matter of taste...
All in all, a lovely place to visit!

1000 florins (2.5 euros per person) for a poorly maintained museum, with non-original statues and embellished with plastic plants full of dust. Honorable mention to the antipathy and lack of cordiality of the lady at the checkout. If you have to spend some time and it is hot, pass the museum and after 200 m relax in the cool of the stream.

This was something new for us. A bit like Madam Tussauds but marzipan rather than wax. The creations there are wonderfully and cleverly made, depicting anything from cactii to Michael Jackson to biblical scenes, all in great detail and colour.
Take time to look at the detail and pause over coffee and cake at the adjacent cafe before heading further afield.

The biggest reason for uis to visit was the much talked marzipan statue of Michael Jackson... tickets cost 400 forint but still it is a ripoff. Not worth the time or money. In the end Michael Jackson wasn't there.. what a disappointment!

This is a village about an hour from Budapest by blue line train but also by boat...I would advise the boat ...It is a great relaxing experience and a beer or coffee or whatever is a great way to refresh you for a few hours in this Serbian village..
Apart from being filled with the usual touristic shops there are wonderful galleries and little coffee shops etc...
The MARZIPAN MUSEUM is not to be missed but it is just one of the many sights of this unchanged village...
Relaxing in the coffee shops and cafes on the water front would be my choice but there are many.

It's quite a curious experience, but since the entrance fee is so little, what the heck, just go. There are several sculptures made out of marzipan, get ready to see marzipan Lady Di and Michael Jackson, as well as portrait of several Habsburg emerors and a model of Hungarian Parliament. The best part of the exhibition is the museum shop though, you can get quite a variety of marzipan goods. I got a simple mass of white marzipan as I love to eat it just like that, by itself. It was delicious and now I wish I had bought more. Also, it's a great thing to do with your kids!

Although we did not go into the museum, we purchased some marzipan from the gift shop. Very delicious. Very good souvenir ideas.

The Marzipan Museum was just...weird. All the items on display were made from marzipan and very detailed. We just went from one room to another, almost in shock that this stuff was made from almond paste. There was everything from Cinderella's carriage to Disney characters to flowers to the Hungarian Parliment. The most freaky item was the life-sized sculpture of Michael Jackson. Like I said...weird. It's a fun diversion from the churches and shops outside.
