Very beautiful palace with big garden and many different museums nearby. The palace is very nice and there are several expositions in near buildings - carriage museum, hunting exposition, the train exposition which my husband enjoyed most. Nice place to spent time.

Arrived at 10am on a Sunday and bought a special all-exhibits pass which was really good value for money. The Coach museum was , despite my initial mis-givings, well worth a visit. The Hunting museum was fascinating, if a touch macabre. The model railway museum was a delight. The greenhouses and duck pond were a big hit with the kids.... More

Very nice place in good conditions. The only problem was the parking...it is a little bit expensive and far away from the entry

The Festetics Palace is very easy to find: after a few minute walk from the city center (through the shopping street) you can easily get there. The Palace garden is free to visit and there are many museums inside the castle for decent entry prices (cca. 3-10 EUR / Adult).

We visited the place with two kids too young to patiently visit the interiors, therefore we decided to have a walk outside in the "gardens" only, so PLEASE NOTE I AM **NOT** RATING THE PALACE ITSELF!. If you plan to go inside, check other reviews as there's high chance it's worth waiting in the line. But if you just want... More

I'm a professor of history and have been to my fair share of public history and museum venues and the Amazon (sp?) house is one of the best I've encountered in a long time. The had a large and fantastic exhibit up on the history of vacationing and travel in the region. You buy the ticket at the main palace... More

This fantastic palace has seen a lot. It was completed in 1754 for the Festetics family. After World War II the Soviet Union used it for among other soldiers. Today the palace is restored and shows beautiful rooms, a chapel, a stunning library, a mirror room and I could just go on. There is a carriage museum in the old... More

Restaurant with the wine cellar is super great, MUST TRY, A HIDDEN TREASURE IN Balton! We liked the palace but we loved this restaurant with the best of the local specialties, and amazing wine tasting menu! ! 10 of 10 :-) Please be prepared to look after the restaurant on the left hand side in the main building. .
