Quaint and nice little city
Aug 2021
We visited Gyor in the summer of 2021 and had a great stay. The old town, although small, is very nice and clean. You can enjoy a drink and dinner in the old town's square in one of the many restaurants.

Gorgeous old town by the river
Dec 2019
This is a place we'd never heard of before stumbling upon it, and were glad we did. It's a town with a long history, with a historic centre being testament to that. It's a lovely area to wander around and soak up history, at the confluence of 2 small rivers, offshoots of the Danube. Tourists seem to be starting to trickle in but it feels far less commercial than some other towns in the region.

We visited in the summer when it was nice to also sit out and eat or have a coffee. We're also just been this month before Christmas and enjoyed the Christmas markets around the town, including the open air ice rink by the river. There were a number of nice touches, such as faux reindeer and Santa's sleigh for the kids to sit on, and free games for the kids to play in the main square. There's a big ferris wheel by the river too though it was slightly pricey for the whole family so we enjoyed it from the bottom.

Lovely advent time journey
Dec 2019
Lovely town with a lot of sights, very friendly for tourists. All main sights are situated on small area, so you can walk through it in one or two hours. There was a advent market with lot of small shops and varied offer. People are very kind, hot wine and langos were delicious. You can walk through nice and clean streets. Shops closed a bit earlier than could be some travellers used to :)

Meh
Mar 2019
After one visit there's absolutely nothing left to do, forget about any life especially on weekends or cold days. No diversity, short opening hours, nothing really to do or see, unless there is an event going on. Also no one seems to be able to speak English and staff s unfriendly in most establishments.

Amazing photo exhibition
Sep 2019 • Business
Called into Gyor for a few hours as was on business nearby and was recommended to go and visit the photo exhibition that was on display. What a beautiful display of photos. Well worth a stop if passing. The old town itself was lovely. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Nice walk around. I would visit again if passing.

Picturesque City
Sep 2019
We really enjoyed our afternoon in Gyor. The ladies in the tourist information office were very helpful and gave us a leaflet with a walking route round the main sites which was very helpful. The city itself is quite compact and very picturesque with stunning architecture, fountains and statues.

A revelation
Sep 2019 • Friends
After Riding in the rain into what we expected to be an industrial city we were overwhelmed by the architecture and ambience of the old town. Lots of cafes and restaurants a lack of other tourists meant easy access. Loved the place.

The old town area is dotted with shops, restaurants and cafes. Each street has beautiful historical buildings so is worth the time to just take a stroll and discover the hidden gems.
