The abbey sits atop a hill that gives amazing views over the surrounding countryside. The history of the abbey stretches back over a thousand years and has been an integral part of Hungarian history. The buildings that can be visited are excellent with the library being the best. There is a small entry fee and this includes an audio guide.

This abbey is picturesquely situated on top of a forested hill. Due to this position, it commands wide views across the Hungarian countryside. You can see Pannonhalma village and the fields of the surrounding farms. The main attraction, however, is the abbey, which has played a crucial role in the spread of Christian faith in Hungary over the past millennium.... More

this was beautiful, the library was unbelievable, absolutely gorgeous scenery that you could see for miles. This Abbey is up on a big hill and it covers alot of area. The monks make wine and sell at the gift shop - pretty good wine too. This was worth a visit.

My wife and I visited here on our way to Budapest from Vienna. On arriving the first thing you notice is the location of the Abbey affords stunning views over the surrounding countryside in all directions. The origins of the Abbey go back about 1000 years and is rich in history as well as being an integral part of the... More

Touring the abby was one of highlitghs of my my visit to Hungary. The herb garden and suvenier shop along with a very nice restaurant with a good wine selection. It is certainly a place to visit for the whole family.

Don't miss the Library here, which is fantastic. The Abbey itself is impressive and there is much else to do besides.

We learned a lot by taking the guided tour. However, we didn't get into the church, which I wanted to do. Seems like that the "holy grail", no pun intended.

The view from the top is amazing. The library is very interesting. The place is isolated and very quiet. We were too late to attend the mass so check the time so you can attend. This is a great part of history not to be missed.
