We went up, back when it was allowed. You can almost go back in time and see and hear someone calling the masses for prayer. We found out this was a badly made minaret and was likely never put to use.Doesnt matter. it was amazing.

Not much to see there nowadays, since this tower is under renovation and it’s s free standing tower only without any mosque in sight.

This ancient Minaret, a hold over from the Ottoman occupation of the 1500's, is currently under renovation, but nevertheless provides a unique perspective of life in and around Eger. The nearby castle defense structures, when paired with this Minaret provide a contrast of defender and...More

Nice and unusual to see a minaret in hungary, well maintained, you can normally climb up to the top, but currently looks under renovation so not sure the stairs are open

this is a relic from the time of the muslim occupation and was in need of rescuing as it was tilting at precarious angle, is now under restoration with huge braces in place to hod it in upright position whilst the base is strengthened.

We were only able to see it from the outside, because it is closed for maintenance. We saw that they are working to stabilize this tall building. Would have been nice to climb the stairs and see the view.

The views from the top are lovely, the climb up the spiral staircase is fun and the Minaret should be on a list of things to see for everyone visiting Eger.

A tower built 500 years ago. A very narrow stairs, stone steps (more than 100 I guess), some tiring "climb", but finally you get an amazing sight in a tiny balcony at... 30 mts. maybe... a very nice and very funny experience. You have to...More

The tower is the northernmost point of the Turkish empire when they ruled Hungary temporarily. Walk by and see it, and pay the 300 HUF to climb it for a quick 97 step to a beautiful view of eger. Very cramped since it was built...More

This minaret is very very old, looks lovely. The castle is also close, so is the main square. One of the few minarets in Hungary.
