If you have a wide range of interest, this museum – that just won the „Museum of the year” title is for you. A few days ago I read some reviews about Obuda, and because they mostly mentioned only the Roman Amphitheater as an attraction,...More

At first I was a bit underwhelmed - why had we made the effort to go here? (Its about 20 mins out of centre by taxi/HEV). But then we got into the main part of the museum where it is all recreated 19th/20th century shops/cafes/hotel...More

One of the guide book calls this a "small museum." It isn't. Not huge, but full of interesting exhibits that take a few hours to see. When we went there was a very good exhibit on the coffee houses of Budapest: who went there, what...More

We visited this museum on the recommendation of Lonely Planet's Budapest guide, which listed it as a "Top Choice" and "a gem." While the museum is interesting and the staff friendly, I don't think it lived up to the description and was a little disappointed...More

This museum is in a suburb of Budapest, easily accessible by bus or metro/tram and should be a must see for any visitor. This official name suggests a dreary, dusty old -fashioned relic of the communist era. It is anything but! The exhibits do cover...More

For me one of the most interesting places in Budapest. All those cool small and bigger objects linked with trade from 19th/20th century shall give a creep to every vintage lover. But I believe that the museum will be interesting for everyone as the exhibition...More

The name of the museum is not terribly inspiring but it is a little gem. I was taken there by a friend who works in Budapest and would probably not have thought it worthwhile making the effort otherwise. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The...More

This fascinating museum deserves to be in the center of Pest, not in out of the way Obuda. Very interesting displays (with good descriptions in English) of commercial aspects of Hungarian life, including hotels, spas, shopping, coffeehouses, etc. There's recreations of old grocery stores, drug...More
