We walked over this bridge on the last night in Budapest. It was nicely lit up and allowed us to get some great shots not only of the Liberty bridge but also of the other bridges along the Danube.

The name of this bridge is a misnomer since the Communists not only liberated the people from the Nazi's, they liberated them from their money, their properties and sometimes their lives. It is worth going over the bridge for it's architect nouveau style.

Very nice walk. Great views over the Danube. Can get pretty windy in December. It's a good location to get a picture of the other bridges and the citadel in the same frame.

We arrived here by accident, having gone one stop too far on the metro but we walked over this bridge and the views were very good. On the other side you have access to all the restaurants and shops and it is not too far to walk.

A pretty bridge to walk across, I love the Danube river. People were climbing up on the green railings.

You can take some nice and romantic photos on this bridge. The view is beautiful and you can see the Danube river crossing.

I really liked this one and for me it is second best, right after the chain one. looks much prettier live than looking at the pictures. Don't miss it!

Visited the liberty bridge (a must visit!) when it was closed down for the vehicles for a week or so in July 2016. It was just amazing to walk around without much crowd, one gets to click beautiful pictures of the city/ river danube- one can see the gellert hill and the statue- the architecture is so unique with beautiful... you absolutely have to visit this bridge and all the other main bridges. Every bridge has a different view, a different atmosphere, a different magic. Look at this architecture, imagine how it was built, look at the Danube and the panorama (I prefer the panorama from teh lower levels; the Castle panorama is too high, too wide and looses some... Very worthwhile. The evening lights showcase this bridge in addition to the Chain Bridge. Walking across the Danube on Liberty Bridge in the evening is a memory to take home from Budapest and savor.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
