Adults drive the engines and children control the traffic and commercial services on this narrow gauge railroad, which travels 11 kilometers through the woods and hills on the Buda side of the city.

The Gyermekvasút (English: Children's Railway) or Line 7 is a narrow gauge railway line in Budapest, which connects Széchényi-hegy and Hűvösvölgy and is 11.2 km long. A funny and authentic experience on a mini-train with school kid personnel. Great views in Budapest heights, and this train actually takes you somewhere!

Aplace no one should miss when you are in budapest. Seeing the children being responsible for the train is a good thing as it confirms that young people can be responsible too.

Recommended by a friend. Was a bit of a trek together there but was worth it. Highly recommended. Run by children and all very pleasant and smartly dresed

It's like going back in time! Station staff all young children and teens. Nice way to get to the top of the hill. Total trip about 7 miles long (30mins duration). A little difficult to locate with not many signs about, but novel, relaxing tourist trip. Good trip for hill walkers with trails through the forest.

A short trip up into the Buda Hills on the Cog railway brings you close to the terminus of the Budapest Children's railway. A true relic of the past and whilst children sell the tickets and act as guards etc. the trains are driven by qualified MAV railway staff. You will be in very good and safe hands. The journey... On a cold January morning we caught the Line 60 Cog railway to its end, walked the short distance across the park, and enjoyed a single trip on the Children's Railway. The 40 minute journey through the snow covered Buda hills was a delight, although we opted not to disembark at any of the stations the train stopped at. In... More

They run on normal schedule and also organize special routes like the Santa train, they are all interesting and fun. It goes through forest with nice scenery.

A great experience: the kids take their work very seriously and all speak English well, and it's a lovely way to see the Buda Hills. Do the circuit with the Cogwheel Railway in one direction and this in the other, and take time out to walk in the Buda Hills in between as well

leftover from the old days, run by children under adult supervision. we went by the cog wheel railway to start of this one, pleasant trip thru the hills and then we went up to the viewing point, back down on the cable car. the children take it seriously and do it well, it is there to teach them responsibility but... This attraction is quite simple (railway trip) but drivers are children and location is really forest and (small) mountians. So whatever season, it is nice to be transported like that and enjoying view, calm and green. Price is reasonnable, A full day trip - starting from Budapest center - can help you to escape from too many tourist or "traffic"... More
