Shopping, eating or just enjoying a cold drink on a hot summer evening, Gozsdu Udvar is a very good choice during your visit to Budapest. Its restaurants and bars are popular among local and international youth. You can find everything from affordable to a little bit fancier.

The courtyard and surrounding buildings were originally designed and built over a century ago, then reconstructed at the end of World War II and restored again around 2008. In the heart of the gentrified old Jewish district (VII district), this trendy area attracts locals and visitors alike, especially in the evenings and weekends. The visitor will find many choices for... More

Lots of stylish pubs and restaurants, all along this small, tight "street between streets". Good food, lots of beer and a fun atmosphere.

Quite during the day, very busy at night. Music playing from some bars. Nice for socialising and meeting new people. Bouncers at the entrances to prevent trouble. Very colourful area. I went during day and during evening. Best for young people I think. Under 40s. Very touristy. Average Budapest prices. So many bars, spoilt for choice. I would go again.... More

It is a rather summer place because it is very big (lots of pubs in one area). We were there on a rainy and cold day and it was cold inside. The atmosphere is perfectly different. If you are travelling to Budapest you should definitely stop by!

Popped by on a sunny Sunday afternoon, very accessible from the main station and provides a scenic walk. Basically a series of courtyards transformed into bars, restos and other recreational establishments. Definitely worth visiting for a bite or a night out.

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
