Great and large zoo that's located close to Hero square and Szechenyi thermal bath. I'm a big zoo and animal enthusiasm and been to quite a lot of different parks and this is one of the most beautiful ones I've been to and with a great layout.

We planned to spend only about 3 hours here but ended up spending the whole day. It is a beautiful zoo and we had loads of fun even if we are adults.

A visit here is a must. It's a bit shabby and yes, maybe some of the enclosures are a bit small and uninteresting, but it's just fascinating. It's only about £6/7 to go in. We live near Chester zoo and visit frequently but some of the exhibits here, we've never seen before. The koala was beautiful. I might be ignorant... More

I honestly recommend this zoo - if you want to enjoy it fully, come earlier and plan ahead to spend at least 3 hours. You can see a lot of various animals there, some of them will be very close to you, some you can feed (have couple of 100 coins in pocket to buy food).

We walked around the zoo for about two and a half hours and we didn't saw everything! Many species of animals and very good architecture! We were very excited! The only disadvantage that we found is that the labels with the information of the animals that we were seeing was only in Hungarian. None of them in English and we couldn't understood a... More

Visited zoo with intrepidation due to recent reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. Animals all in good condition, looked well looked after, enclosure were big enough. Lots of different animals, especially koalas, never seen before. Nice to get up close with some of the animals. Great day out, well worth visiting. Went in weekday, not too busy. Easy to get too.

The Zoo opened it’s doors on 9th August 1866 and today boasts 1 to 1.1 million visitors a year. Visited this zoo with my friend and we were both slightly disappointed. The animals looked a little sad and we thought some of the enclosures were on the small side.

If you don't have much time go anti clockwise on entering the zoo to see the big zoo animals... elephants, giraffes and gorillas etc. The animal pens smell badly of urine and could really do with a good clean. A lot of the exhibits were closed which they should really tell you before you go in. There seems to be... More

Went there with my husband on the third. We saw the bats, tigers, the leopard and many, many different birds amongst various other things. The zoo staff were all hard at work during our visit, and most of the animals looked happy enough; however some of their habitats did not look very comfortable for them and a few things appeared...
