The Citadel fortress rises up on Gellert hill on the Buda side of the Hungarian capital. It's a pretty steep climb up, so I'd rather opt for a bus or taxi (if driving yourself, very limited parking space up). It was built by Austrian empire...More

Visited the Citadel as the light was fading. Walked from the Liberty Bridge up through the park. This brings you slowly up the slope providing you with every more spectacular views over the Danube and the city of Pest beyond. The park is extremely well...More

To be honest The Citadel itself is OK but the real reason to go to the top is the views of Budapest. If you're fit enough walk up rather than taking a bus, it's much more enjoyable and there's loads of seats available to have...More

You will do well to find better views on Gellert hill. Didnt visit inside the citadel. Was more captivated by the views of the whole of budapest. We had great weather on our visit so managed to get some amazing pictures.

We walked all the way from the Chain Bridge! Hundreds of steps but the views are impressive. Once you get there you are 'welcomed' by a man to play the shell game! He is very persistent but luckily we didn't fall for it as we...More

A good place to see the top city ... a place loaded with history, strategic location, well set up, tourists are well placed in the theme with leaflets and guides. It was worth the sighting of this place

This statue is placed on the top of a hill with a fabulous view of the Danube, the numerous bridges and both sides of Budapest. We reached there passed dusk and had a gorgeous view of Budapest at night, with its sparkling lights.

Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing
