A rainy afternoon in Budapest so I wanted to go somewhere indoors to escape the rain and see something I had not seen before. The Kunsthalle was my second choice as the Museum of Fine Arts was closed. I loved it! Contemporary art is not...More

Compare to other places, the entry fee is low, but that you get for your money, it's even less. At the ticket office, they told me, that they have only one small exhibition, but since I was already there, I accepted the circumstances. The only...More

Unless you are into finger painting or art of ‘the Kings New Clothes’ variety, you know the type, tripe that some so called expert has raved about so nobody has the nerve to say is crap, then avoid this place. The outside of the building...More

The architecture looked Greek or Roman. It's a big building. It was interesting to check it out. I like buildings with pillars.

On the Hero's Square, opposite to the Museum of FIne Arts is the building of the Exhibition Palace. There are practically only temporary exhibitions, so check at first what is on display.

Arriving in Heroes Square, most people head for the National Art Gallery. Turn to the other side & you find a similar looking building, Mucsarnok: confusingly also known as Kunsthalle, The Palace of Art, The Design Museum & The Institution of the Hungarian Academy of...More

During February 2017 the Műcsarnok featured a broad retrospective of art in Hungary (and nearby) around teh "turn of the century" (19-20). Exhibition was interesting and taught me a lot. Clearly must have taken a gargantuan curating effort. I was not too impressed with most...More
