During February 2017 the Műcsarnok featured a broad retrospective of art in Hungary (and nearby) around teh "turn of the century" (19-20). Exhibition was interesting and taught me a lot. Clearly must have taken a gargantuan curating effort. I was not too impressed with most of the art exhibited, though. Some of the contemporary art pieces presented at the same... More

A rare collection of pictures, Hungarian, Austrian and Czech from the age of the double monarchy. Some are from well known artists, some from less famous, a broad selection of portraits and landscapes are presented. One of the most famous ones "Ecce homo" once again is presented to the public. I liked also some of the Austrian painters. A memorable... More

When you go to Heroes' Square, you will see it is framed by two gorgeous buildings. To the right is the contemporary Art building, called Mucsarnok. It has works from local Hungarians and also international artists. It has a bookshop, gift shop restrooms and cafe. Wheelchair accessible for the most part to get in, stairs inside, look for elevators. I... More

The museum was located right next to Heroes' Square while exhibitions on photos and other contemporary art were on a rotation basis. So do check what would be displayed at the moment of your visit prior to the payment of entrance fee of HUF1,800 per person.

A nice place for those who are interested in contemporary art. This October the main exhibition was focused on nature art and a pair of hungarian father and son sculptors. We found it quite interesting.

This is one of 2 galleries facing Heroes' Square and used for contemporary art exhibitions. Came for an exhibition of Nature Art by some Hungarian and international artists. Ticket price of HUF1800 was pricey from what was on display.

Me and my friends recently visited Budapest and went on a tour. We decided to go into this museum to use the toilet and whilst some of you may say why didn't you go to a public one...? We tried to ask but the guard didn't speak very good English. In England most museums are free or ask for a... More

I love contemporary art and am not so struck on photography. When I arrived the exhibit was photography. The current show really has some gems. While "photography " they have extended that definition broadly. It is a large exhibition that showcases many hungarian artists and the photos, videos, installations were quite well done. The museum has a strange layout but... More
