The area
Address
Neighbourhood: District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

It’s like Disneyland in this area of Budapest. The views are amazing. Do not miss. Definitely recommend the elec mini cart buses at 10euro each. Saves a LOT of walking

A beautiful unique attraction overlooking the city of Budapest (Buda side) - would definitely recommend visiting on a clear day to see the views. It really is as wonderful as the pictures look.

The view up the tower was amazing. Very informative information inside the church too. We had access to all parts which I have never experienced in a church before.

The St. Matthias church was simply stunning - it was actually my favorite tourist site in Budapest. I highly recommend to make time to visit this church.

Defensive walls have been in place here since at least the 9th century. The current structure was built from 1895 to 1902 on the site of what had been 18th Century walls which were part of the defensive system for the castle. The name is said to come from a guild of fishermen who manned this section of the walls.

This is the gathering place in Buda. The structures offer panoramic views of the river and the city of Pest below.

Cost a couple dollars to go up on the walkway, but its worth it since most of the crowds don't go up. There is an automated ticket machine so you don't need to wait in line. You can get some great photos, and everything is very clean.

Fine dining at its best, it’s expensive for Hungary but absolutely worth it , weirdly I am glad we only found it on our last night as it would have been difficult to go elsewhere after this experience. The food is very high end , not normally my thing , but was superb, the service was done with a sense of occasion but still friendly, the wines were mostly local and excellent. I would say the building and view were the most dramatic and beautiful of any restaurant that I have been to, I mention this last as it still would have been 5 stars without

Zoltan made our experience an amazing event for my birthday. His caring and kind service made the evening so special. My compliments to the chef, whom prepared the most delicious food, from the Duck Liver with Raspberry to the French Rack Lamb. Everything was perfectly prepared. And the bonus was the amazing view of the Danube River with the Parliament in the background. By the way, the restaurant is inside the Bastion! Don’t miss this special place. Kinga offered her delightful take on the wines and showed us what wonderful service this restaurant offers. It was truly the most memorable birthday I’ve ever had and I’ve had 62 of them!

I was surprised you have to buy a ticket and you can visit until 7 pm. If I remember right, when I visited the bastion the last it was free of charges and there was no closure time. However, I understand the reasons of keeping it as it is from the tons of tourists that come to visit. Budapest has many attractions, but somehow this one is most popular. You can have a nice view from here and at least there's no limit of how much time you spend here.
