Beautiful views.

Great photo op area. Walked from Castle hill but you can also just walk here from the Chain bridge, hills and steps involved. Great strudel spot at the intersection above.

Gorgeous place with stunning views of Pest, especially Parliament. The cafe in one of the turrets must have one of the most scenic views for a cafe anywhere. Also a great spot to marvel at the outside of St Mathias church with its coloured roof and impressive architecture.

We visited in December when the funicular railway was closed for maintenance, but the buildings and views made it worth the climb. The main 'balconies' are free and provide wonderful views of the Danube and the Pest side of the capital. It is clean, well maintained and served by a cafe, which charges tourist prices. Certainly worth a trip, even... More

The inside of the church and the view from here were amazing. Lots of nice little shops to visit too.

There was a lot of building going on when we visited , not sure what but turnstiles were being put in. Access was therefore restricted and we left disappointed.

This is a must if in Budapest, the views are amazing, the church has the most stunning roof, if on foot it is a bit of a climb but worth it , it does get a bit busy with tour groups but not so bad early in the day also you can get the funicular rail to the castle and... More

The best view from the whole city! Free anytime of the day and inside of the medieval castle! I would spend there a half of the day enjoying the view!

You must go to the Fisherman's Bastion when visiting Budapest. The view there is awesome. Possibly one of the best views of the parliament.

Went on a guided walk of this beautiful area just as night was falling. It was very cold but that made it even more magical. Fabulous architecture and a wonderful view of the city as the lights went on. A walk up to the top of the tower led to a small, warm seating area with the opportunity to buy... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
