Paprika🌶🌶
Oct 2020 • Couples
The best place to buy souvenirs in Budapest is here. This building consists of two floors. The ground floor is full of chocolates, jams, cheeses and sausages, etc.Hungary is also a source of paprika, so you can get all kinds of peppers here. The upper floor is full of Hungarian handicrafts decorated with beautiful embroidery. There are also several cafes upstairs where you can sit and watch the colorful market from upstairs.

Good experience
Aug 2021
Almost half of the shops were closed when we visited. It might be due to COVID-19. All shops sell almost the same products. The food court upstair is OK.

Go here and be sure and eat at the cafeteria
Aug 2020
It's been awhile since we were there but thought I would chime in. This is a mix of touristy items, meat and produce. It is a great way to spend a couple of hours. We ate in the open air cafeteria and came back and ate the next day as well, the food was outstanding. Hopefully when Covid runs its course this place will get back to what it was. Paprika is a staple in Hungarian food. We bought several small bags here and gave them away when we got home. The recipients loved it.

Wow-wow-wow!
I have 2 problems with this location.
1. Not close enough to where I live.
2. Unfortunately, most of the stores, I think, were closed due to the pandemic.
However, I love it...

Great market, beautiful building
Oct 2019
I love markets to see the different foods that an area has to offer. The smoked meats, brightly colored fruits, and vegetables were interesting. The paprika strings reminded me of the chili ristras found in the American southwest.

Stunning building
Sep 2020
Stunning building with some great fresh food stalls on ground floor but above dozens of little stalls selling the usual tourist tack.
I also was very hungry so tried one of the food stalls upstairs......wish I hadn’t.... stodgy luke warm naff food, remember having great food here around 5 years ago but certainly not now.
All said though well worth a 1/2hr stroll to enjoy the atmosphere.

Disappointing... Many shops of the same!!
Jul 2020 • Family
We visited the market to taste and enjoy genuine Hungarian food in the mezzanine. Which we did and it was delicious and very affordable for what you get plus the size of the portions. Although we paid 590HUF for the bottled drinks, in the lower floor there is an Aldi selling the same for 49HUF!!
Most of the souvenirs shops sell all the same type of touristic souvenirs. We were disappointed as we expected a lot more diversity and a lot more handcrafted souvenirs for sale.
In the ground floor the fruits, sausages, seasonings and drinks sold were all the same. Same type and same brand. Very little differentiation from one another.
The fruits were delicious, sweet and impressively big.
It can get very hot inside the Hall!

An ancient and unique free market
Jul 2020 • Family
When the European border opened, we first visited Budapest. Of course, we must also look at this ancient and unique free market. During the outbreak of coronavirus, the market closed many counters and shops. So far, small shops selling souvenirs, souvenir shops are closed, and small restaurants are closed. Only two fast food restaurants are still open. The ground floor sales of meat, condiment stores and vegetable markets are basically open. This free market has remained basically the same, with good hygiene and enthusiastic waiters. There are ATM machines in the mall that can withdraw cash.

Variety of stalls
Mar 2020 • Friends
Amazing architecture from outside.
The stalls inside are such a varied content.
Fresh meat, fruit, snacks, cheeses, snacks, paprika and lots of souvenir choices.
Definitely worth a visit even if you just stroll round enjoying the market atmosphere and variety of things to see.

На рынке можно расплачиваться картой или только наличкой?

Лучше форинтами расплачиваться, картой не везде принимают, а в евро конвертируют по невыгодному курсу...

Yes correct, Have a great time .Second floor has many cute stalls for buying Hungarian crafts, T-shirts, bags, spices(Hungarian paprika).
First floor has a wonderful lavender soap and cream booth. The lady also has excellent Hungarian jams for sale- make sure you buy some, not as sweet as here in Canada/US.Close by this stall is a dried mushrooms seller too. Great variety of specialty mushrooms.

Al mercato ti conviene andare con i contanti, ho visto una coppia dover rinunciare a ritirare il pranzo in uno dei numerosi chioschi perché al momento del pagamento si sono sentiti dire “only cash”
