Emily is a superb guide to the city of Budapest. Her tours are not "canned" or scripted. She is very flexible and can craft your tour to your desires. We opted for a half day driving/walking tour to get acquainted with the city. The Castle District, the grand market hall and the public baths were the highlights. Emily does more... More

My husband and another couple from US booked Emily's tour while in Budapest. She picked us up from our hotel and took us to all the city sites. Well known sites and ones we did not know, which was a bonus. Emily was one of the best guides we have ever had. She is extremely knowledgeable of the area and... More

We were a family of three adults. We spent two full days with Emily one in Budapest and one in Vienna. Emily is a lovely, clever, informative lady who enabled us to have the best time. She collected us from our hotel and tailored our tour so that the particular things we wanted to see were included, she pre booked... More

Emily was amazing! She completely guided us through an entire day in Budapest with extreme knowledge of the city. Our family of 4 Adults and 2 Children enjoyed every one of the venues that Emily shared with us about her city of Budapest. We were going on a river boat cruise with Tauck Bridges and knew we would not have... More

We were a group of 6. Emily picked us up from our Viking ship and brought our luggage to our hotel. Then off to Herend. We choose to see Hungry's countryside and arts. Herend is amazing hand painted porcelain. We started out by drinking coffee from the porcelain then we went into the museum and had a tour. The drive... More

We hired Emily to take us on a 1 day tour of Budapest. We booked her months in advance and kept in contact with her, discussing sites and interests we wanted to see/do. She customized a complete tour for us to include EVERYTHING on our list plus more! She even was able to pick us up at the airport and... More

Our tour guide, Nina, in Prague recommended Emily to us - and I am glad that she did. We had an 8 hour tour scheduled, but we broke it up in two days - which was a good idea. She picked us up promptly at the train station and took us to the hotel to check in. From there, we... More

We came to Budapest with organized tour and on our first day we had a standard overview of Budapest. Second day was free to explore this interesting city, and we hired Emily as our guide. She was able to give us a custom tour covering small side streets, mansions of the past, Jewish quarter, making of strudel and coffee as... More

We have just finished two long days of touring Budapest and the surrounding area with Emily, and it's been a terrific experience. She knows so much, and freely shares her knowledge and time! Our days were long and packed full of things to do. Day one was a tour of the city sights, and day two was the Danube Bend... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
