We booked the food Urban adventure! It was one of the best little city tours I've done. From the central market to Budapest's soho and surrounds this your takes you on an adventure. Livia our guide was very knowledgable and passionate! She showed us things we would have never seen on our own! We couldn't believe how much we fit... More

We spend with some friends of ours and our 3 years old daughter very pleasent time with our guide Fanny. She was very informative, nice and knew how to adopt the itinerary of the tour (Bites and Sights) to our wishes which was not so easy as we were all vegetarians and it is not so obvious to have something... These were two very enjoyable and informative half-day tours. Tour guides Agnes and Emese were well informed and very pleasant company. I went back to do these tours a second year running as I enjoyed them so much the first time. The second time I again learned a lot and enjoyed exploring Budapest with each of the guides.

We have been on a few food tours and this one was not one that stands out. The guides were good but the tastings were the bare minimum that were advertised.

Dear Philip, We are sorry to read that you have complains about the amount of food provided during our Bites & Sights tour. Right after the tour I talked to our guides and they assured me that you and your fellow travellers got exactly same service and amount of food as any other travellers so far. This was a food... the Guide Emese should be indulged with strudel at end of the tour, I think she prefers sour cherry and poppy seeds- I wont give her story away but strudel is not a Germanic creation.....what a food tour should be...history of the food from a cultural perspective. also those shops we visited - my group went back to one of... Our four hours-plus with educator Agnes Zoka were enlightening and exhilarating. We felt immersed in Budapest history, culture, pride and flavors and our four-member group strolled -- briskly -- through the Central Market and several neighborhoods. We tasted, questioned and gained insights into the Hungarian character and nationalism, with frank comments about the tumultuous changes of the past eight decades.... More

The Urban Adventures tour was more about Budapest, Hungarian history and cultural discussions than that the food. Agnes was a delight! She loves her city and country - warts and all. Her personal perspective and history gives tour participants a true understanding of the complexity of Hungary and being Hungarian, in the past and in the present. Don't get my... More

We did the Bites and Sights tour with Zsuzsi as our guide. She was well informed about Budapest history and gave us insights into lives of the residences of this city both now and in the past. We experienced a wide variety of Hungarian food with many tastings during the tour. We got a real flavour of this city and... More

One of our fondest memories of Budapest will no doubt be our wine tour with Fanni. The wine tour was not formally available the day we wanted to book but Urban was fantastic and worked quickly behind the scenes to get a tour organised. We visited several ruins bars, an outdoor wine garden, and a several other venues. We were... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
