Metelkova is a former military area. I was a headquarter Of Yuogoslavian national army. Now a days it is a center of culture in the middle of city Ljubljana. There is several stages where bands are playing or theater is rolling. Grafits are amazing and other artworks. Pubs are decorated also.Day time pubs are not open. In the evening they... More

During the day, this area is quiet and perfect for pictures. At night, it turns into a watering hole for artists, activists, chill people, weirdos, & musicians. Grab a cheap beer, sit down and chillax. Everyone welcomes you with open arms. My husband and I met some awesome folks. Everyone is generally under 35 or so. I loved it at... More

Metelkova is just different. You may love it or hate it but you cannot be ignorant. It's a place dedicated to the alternative, urban culture. And I suggest you take some time for a visit. It is for free anyway.

I just got back from Ljubljana for the second time but this was the first time I went to Metelkova. It is a really cool and unique area to see with loads of graffiti and unique objects. I wouldnt say it is as good as Christania in Copenhagen but it is still a must visit in Ljubljana.

My partner and I wandered over to Metelkova on a sunny weekday afternoon in March and were not disappointed. It's a fantastical spectacle just brimming with a unique energy. We wandered around the small area for over an hour just to have the time to have a good look at each of the pieces and even then I don't think... More

On a Sunday morning, you can see the fantastic murals and cool artwork that the place has to show. Reminded us of a little Christiania in Copenhagen, but MUCH less threatening or "sketchy". Could be a bit more chaotic during the evenings but it really is a cool part of the city!

you will find a lot of life in this part of Ljubljana. Great for the party, great for the one drink with your friend. A lot of bands, rock, etno, house, ragge and other types of music.

Large squat with art installations galour. Have a walk around it during the day to appreciate the detail of the designs etc but it will be pretty deserted. It really comes to life in the dark with a number of clubs opening their door and the groups of people drinking and smoking in the outside areas. Its probably not for... More

Crazy, galactic potential that's not even marginally realized. A pleasant hippy-trippy-barbarian-stake-lite walk during the day and an absolute beast at times at the end of the week during midnight hours. Massive events are not uncommon in this joint and usually feature a dynamic range of artists and locations for long hours. An absolute must if you are in town. Yes,... More
