Pretty cool and striking from the outside, all serenity and grace on the inside. You can't easily tour the reading rooms now, which makes sense as it's a live uni study area. Check out the cafe in the basement. Overall worth stopping by for 30...More

Unmissable in the center. A very interesting architecture that you’ll probably Love or hate but certainly worth a look (we loved it!)

This is a nice building, highlighted in the Lonely Planet guides. The surprise is that inside, the provide computers and internet access free of charge to tourists. This was a great find and a nice place to catch up on email and trip research.

When in Ljubljana, do not miss the National and University Library (Narodna in univerzitetna knjižnica, Turjaška ulica 1). It has a rich collection of medieval manuscripts, incunabula and Renaissance prints. Built between 1936 and 1941 (designed by renowned architect Jože Plečnik) on the site of...More

National Library with interesting architecture. Tourists are not allowed to enter, so you have to just observe and admire the exterior. A building with history in WW2. Very close to the river so easy to reach as part of a stroll around the city centre.

One of the many buildings designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik (1872-1957). Unfortunately the building is only open to students of the university but it is worth stopping by just to gaze on the stunning exterior.

During our first full day walking tour we kept hearing the name Plecnik. He was the architect responsible for so many amazing things. At the end of the day we went to the National and University Library and it was stunning. While we could not...More
