During the library opening hours, the Main Reading Room is open for students only. Tourists can visit the lobby and the Exhibition Room (between 10.00 and 18.00), as well as the NUK Cafe in the basement of the library (open 8.00-20.00). Visit to the Reading...More

This library building has brickwork that almost resembles braille, and inside the lobby and staircase are lovely. Not much to see except books beyond that, and only library card holders are allowed to the upper levels. But still interesting to look at.

You should go and see this building! A prior review said you had to be a student to enter the reading room. I'm not sure about during the weekdays, but we went on a Saturday, and the reading room was open to us from 2:30pm...More

This building was designed by the famous Slovenian architect, Jože Plečnik who also designed the triple bridge. The exterior is unique with its orange and grey random patterns, protruding bricks and windows. The interior staircase and columns are likewise impressive but you cannot get into...More

Impressive hallway but that’s about all we got to see for our entrance price of €10.... The building’s architecture was clearly amazing but we couldn’t help but feel a bit ripped off for our weekday visit given the fact we didn’t see much of it....More

Another highlight of my 2pm guided city and boat tour, easily booked at the Tourist Office at the Bridge. Awesome architecture and Simona our guide gave us a great introduction to the work of Plecnik and his devotion to the city of Ljubljana. Popped in...More

We came here to see what was described as the striking architecture of Plecnik, particularly the university library. However, this part is only open to visitors on Saturday, so we didn't get to see it. The rest of the building is not something really spectacular....More

Pretty cool and striking from the outside, all serenity and grace on the inside. You can't easily tour the reading rooms now, which makes sense as it's a live uni study area. Check out the cafe in the basement. Overall worth stopping by for 30...More
