This was the heart of Ljubljana in the 12th century. An earthquake destroyed the buildings in 1511. Today, the replaced buildings are in the Renaissance and Baroque style. Shops and restaurants line the cobblestone streets.
Spent a couple of days in the city. This is a bit of a gem with lots to do and see, including town hall. People very friendly and city very clean compared to London where I live. Great place of a long weekend break.
Ljubljana is wonderful small jewel at the heart Europas.
Worth to be seen and meet kind, friendly people. Almost everyone speaks or at least understands English. At Christmas time is in Ljubljana, specially in the old town where Mestni trg is, a lot of festivitys.
The whole area is really nifty and littered with gift shops, restaurants bars but to my mind, City Hall is the real star of the area. The open air center of the building fooled me. Don’t miss some neat history on Ljubljana.
We walked around this lovely area by day and spent our last evening admiring it all lit up in darkness. What a place, great music playing and lots of young people out and about. Such a vibrant feel. Unmissable.
The city hall here has a nice inlaid stone "carpet" out front, and several courtyard interiors (free) with art and information. Admire the clock tower and the street musicians likely playing outside on a nice day.
One of the important the Street! When you start walking, dont worry, just follow the people, you will see where people are going. Many cafes, restaurants and gift shops are waiting for you. It is better to walk after noon and also one more time...More
Very quaint. All the street is cobbled and pedestrianized with many shops, cafes and restaurants to keep you occupied. It was very pretty when we visited as it was December and there were thousands of fairy light lighting everything up!
