Nice, but lacking information

Don´t expect too learn all about Ljubljana. I would have liked to know a lot more about the relations between the different ethnic groups in town through the years. But nice... read more

If you have time after exploring museum, you can sit in a peaceful area and have a great cup of coffee. They have coffee from all over the world and you can have it prepared in a many different ways (espresso, turkish, cold brew...)

We enjoyed our visit here. This gave us a good background to Slovene history and also some idea about Ljubljana itself as a city. Some good exhibits which made it worth visiting, and well laid out with plenty of room to circulate and displays in English.

I had a sneak peak whilst my conference held at the museum was on break. I checked out the first floor displays. Some decent explanations for the time periods exhibited but the displays were crowded with inadequate curation, regardless of language for some objects. I will check out the other floors on my next visit.

Museum gives a good background into the history of Ljubiana and has a number of interesting exhibits. In the basement there is some old roman ruins and antiquities that should not be missed. It is located near the river and has narrative in English to allow you to get an understading on the history of this fine city

Like so much in Ljubljana, the City Museum (Mestni Musej) is small and high quality. Our kids like it because of a booklet they get upon entering. They go through the museum looking for frogs, solving puzzles and interacting with mini exhibits. Going through the Roman dig, seeing the world's oldest wheel and axle, stuff from the Yugoslavian era, passing... More

This was my first visit to this charming, well arranged museum near the university, and the old part of the city. In addition to the history of Slovenia as it continues to develop as an independent nation, you can also learn about its remarkable past where over time at least 10 different nations claimed control over this territory and the... The City Museum of Ljubljana is just another example of excellence in Ljubljana. The displays are visually interesting and engaging. The information panels are well written and informative. Even if you aren't much of a museum person you will come away from this museum with a sense of the city's history and a better understanding of some of what you... More

There are some really interesting displays here which make the best use of the material. In the basement there is the Roman section with a real section of Roman road which you can see in cross section and also a Roman sewer. As you ascend the stairs the story of the city comes up to date with independence and issues... More
