It's hard to believe that this ugly and unpleasant square is located just a few meters from the much more beautiful Congress Square and old town. It's even harder to believe that it used to be a lovely garden all until 1960s when the "wise"...More

Given the history of Slovenia as a part of communist state it's not strange to see communist symbols, but those found on this square are not at least pretty like some else are. The biggest drawback is a huge gap in architecture between this square...More

Place is a paved area between parliament, fine shopping mall, biggest bank, congress and cultural center and another huge building. It is not communist architecture – too small, no classicism, no realistic sculptures around. On small figurative monument and some abstract sculptures are far away...More

One can imagine mass rallies taking place here during the communist era. It's a large square, nothing too much to see in itself, but for the history of the place it's still worth a visit. A few communist style monuments to admire.

The Slovenian Parlament is across the street, on the other ens Cankarev Dom, the big congress and cultural center. There are some metal statues on the square. Surrounded by ugly huge office buildings.

Apart from it being the biggest square in the city, it's also adjacent to the National Assembly building. Across from the square from it there are two big corporate buildings. Other than this, not much to see or do here.

There's not much to see so if you spend 10 minutes there, that'll be enough. However you should definitely go there because the buildings are quite fascinating and represent the communist era quite accurately.

The square is just big piece of concrete. It used to be a parking ground, but now is empty - there is only underground parking- usefull in this part of town. There are some small parks around, socialist monuments and the Parlament.

Most of this square is modern minimalism that leaves a lot to be desired. Even the parliament building is function over form until you get to the entrance. Maybe they make the rest of the building plan so that this bit stands out more. Surrounding...More

If you are at the Square of the Republic take some time to find the Slovenian Parliament building across the square. The face of the building is covered with carvings in the Socialist Realist style. Local people are shown in their everyday lives doing things...More
