National Gallery prepares nice surprises with special exhibitions from time to time. New exhibition about the work of painter and designer Helena Vurnik is excellent. It is mainly devoted to church art, from altars to facades. At the same time you can admire her passion...More

Really enjoyed the artworks on display in this very interesting museum/art gallery. The displays were very well organised. The paintings were mainly by Slovenian artists and were arranged by period. The building itself is beautiful.

It was raining, we were rushing to another place so couldn't fit in a visit to the galleries themselves this time but popped in to the cafe. A great location in a lovely modern architect designed space - great service from the guy running the...More

The gallery houses many beautiful artworks from Slovenia's history. The building itself is quite stunning, and the collections are well worth exploring. We spent a very happy couple of hours here for a very modest entry fee. Note: closed on Mondays.

Not knowing a single Slovenian artist, we chose the right place to find out about them. All, or virtually all the works in this attractively-laid out gallery are by Slovenian artists. There were enough paintings that held the eye, but the highlights for me were...More

Unfortunately one of the sides was closed during my visit for a new installation. Art history buffs would love this museum. They have works dating back to the 15th century. It's a good rainy day activity.

Spent two hours wandering, the often empty, galleries. Nice selection of art. Could maybe link more with history of Slovenia but was worth the 7 euro entry.

Interesting collections curated by century, with a good number of very good impressionist paintings by a Slovenian artist.

Do not expect the usual array of world famous old masters, The unpretentious museum's collection is mostly national and / or regional, but well put together. And the upkeep of both the building and its interior seems to be immaculate.
