Great view of the city

The castle itself is very simple, but the views of the city are spectacular. Full 360 degree views. The walk up to the castle is at times a bit steep, but not very long at all.

Amazing place with nice views. Usually there are many tourists, but still that doesn't ruin it. You can go for a walk or have a coffee

Located via a vehicular railway and offers great city views. A few shops and cafes. worth a quick trip whilst in the Old Town.

Nothing really to see and you even have to pay for the toilet. Stuff was very rude and rather unhelpful. Avoid the effort

We climb the hill instead of riding the transport thing, and i personally love this short and light hiking. We got to see the view, hear the birds singing and just feel the nature. Ppl plays musics all around Ljubljana, and from time to time the churches ring their bells, we see and feel it all. We did not buy... More

Very enjoyable 3 or 4 hours spent (including leisurely coffee and cake break on the sunny terrace). Interesting history; good audio tour; spectacular views of the city both from the walls and the observation tower; interesting quirky museum of puppetry. Funicular rail ride up spectacular too. All in all a good half-day out and pretty good value

An interesting half day excursion is to visit the Ljubljana Castle which we ended with a very good lunch in the castle restaurant. They show a film of the history of the castle and its developments. Beautiful view from the tower of the Julian Alps and the city with its river.

Visited here in January with my wife and little boy, The lift up is quite cool and doesnt take too long. However when you get to the top it is more like a museum than a castle. Also we asked just for trip to the top and back and yet we got charged 20 euros , as this included the... More

The Ljubljana Castle is remarkable. It stands tall on a top of a hill, right in the heart of the city. Entry is about €14, but one can roam the grounds for free and admire the views. There are a number of restaurants and cafes on top within the ramparts of the castle. Funicular to the top is €2.60 one... More
