This church is the centerpiece of Preseren Square, which is the central square of Ljubljana. The church was built between 1646 and 1660. The red color is symbolic of the Franciscan monastic order -- although it has faded to a bright pink, to my eye.

Very nice renovated church with many beautiful frescoes and altars. Chapels behind the altar also accessible for public. Tourist-friendly outside of worship/service hours.

Early morning was crowd free and so were the steps. By late afternoon it's much busier. Beautiful exterior and equally charming inside. Very atmospheric.

The church sits in one of the main squares by the river so chances are you will pass in front of it. It's worth popping in side to see some of the beautiful altars and artworks.
