The story of Dzok is well known in Krakow but not that well known by the people who flock to this beautiful city. It's certainly not really mentioned in the travel information brochures but to dog owners and animal lovers in general the story is so sweet . The little dog who's owner took ill and died on route to... More

Not worth a specific trip to see this but good to stop by if near the castle or en route to the Jewish quarter.

We wanted to see the Dzok Monument, however it wasn't indicated on our map. Eventually we found a Tourist Info and the clerk had never heard about this monument. She searched and searched and found where it was located. Now we were heading in the right direction, walking through the Planty Park, bypassing the castle and there it was right... More

This is a must for all animal lovers, and very easy to find if you are visiting Wawel Castle. Its located 2 minutes from the Castle’s Dragon in the park on the bank of the River Vistula. The monument itself is well worth a visit just to see it, but knowing the story that goes with it only adds to... More

Walking along the River Vistula near Wawel Castle, came accross this memorial. As dog owners, completely captivated by it and the story which could bring a tear to your eyes. Dzok was a mongrel dog with definite German Shepherd genes, owned by an old man. Whilst crossing the road together, in the Summer of 1992 ,the old man collapsed and... More

Walked the planty to find this monument of the sweet story of a devoted dog. Tripadvisor has it placed wrong on the map...it can be found walking south east of the Wawel Dragon about five minutes further down the sidewalk and off to the left on the grass.

A beautiful tribute to a shining example of the dedication of man's best friend to his human partner in life and into death. Jok's paw is worn from our need to touch his to express our thanks. Share with friends - Not a dry eye in the house.

We missed our dogs while traveling so this monument was a good reminder that they are worth it. It's not too far from old town, but most people don't know where it is. If you really want to go, map it first to avoid missing it.
