- Tony HWindermere, United Kingdom79 contributionsCinderella carriages and restaurants galoreRynek Glowny is the central square in Old Krakow and is a fascinating place to visit. Restaurants and shops are plentiful and the Cloth Hall in the centre of the square is a 'must do' - Another nice feature is the underground museum. Entry is by timed ticket only; these can be obtained from the tourist information office in the middle* of the Cloth Hall (*it's on the outside on the face furthest from the big church - St Mary's Basilica). The tickets are free too, which is a bonus. You can also look for and listen to the bugle call from the largest tower of the basilica, just after the hour has been struck on the church bells. The bugler can be seen in one of the windows at the very top of the tower. He uses the windows on the angle, rather than the face, of the tower, and always gives a wave to the people on the square. From 09:00 to about 23:00 the top of the square is thronged with horse drawn landaus, or Cinderella coaches if you prefer a more romantic description. Rynek Glowny is an unavoidable 'must see' - you'll enjoy it too.Visited March 2020Written 10 March 2020
- cleorocasLargs, United Kingdom7 contributionsGreat people watching squareBeautiful historic Square, with lots of see and do. The highlight seems to be the trumpeters who appear on the hour at each of the compass points at the top of St Mary's Tower. You have the Cloth Market, interesting and nice to browse. The Horse carriage rides move off from here, haggle as they do bring down their prices as there are so many. Flowers sellers have beautiful displays on sale, shame I couldn't take one home. Lots of nice places to eat and not over priced at all. You can spend hours here.Visited March 2020Written 14 July 2020
- Lukic MBelgrade, Serbia17 contributionsWonderful KrakowWhen I was younger thinking about Eastern Europe was impossible. Everything related to the "eastern block" made me think about those dark ages of Stalin's Russia. Past few years I traveled to Moscow, St. Petersburg.....and now Krakow. These visits made me change my mind completely. I found out that east Europe countries are more friendly and cosier than western. Also, people are warm. Krakow was my destination in December 2019. I was there for business for 6 days but managed to find some free time to explore the city in the late afternoon and night. It's a modern city with old town in center and fortress that rises in the core of it. Whole city is pretty flat so this old fortress allow you to se panorama of the city. Besides that there's old cathedral with relics od Pope John Paul II and his bist in front of it. Lots of nice and cozy restaurants and pubs with cheap drinks and local food allows you to enjoy it even more. As for the public transport, you can use trams, busses or Uber. I didn't have time to visit Aushwits and salt mine Wieliczka (wintwe working hours are shorter and I didn't have time to get there)so I'll definitely have to come back.Visited December 2019Travelled on businessWritten 19 January 2020

A beautiful centre-piece to Krakow Old Town. Lovely just to wander around and on a fine day with the horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping by it's gorgeous.

Gorgeous place! There are so many eateries to choose from. Locals are all so friendly and speak amazing English. Spoilt for choice on where to have a morning coffee, or lunch or dinner. The local food was fantastic! We spotted a hard rock cafe, too! Cute little indoor market selling traditional polish delights! Had such an amazing couple of days here in Poland. Would definitely recommend it.

You can spend several days happily wandering through this fairyland town square. Lively, full of fantastic sights, sounds and smells. Be sure to get take away gelato.

We spent some time here to have a snack and observe the goings on. Everywhere you look there was action being it shopping, eating, dancing or music. You can make this a full afternoon!

Great city to visit for various reasons. Too many to list. I'm certainly going to return. Don't rush your visit and try to go when average temperature is 21 - 27 Celsius.

Museum about historical Krakow. Nice how they display old remains of walls etc.
For the rest it was a bit more on the boring side.
We might have missed some potential interesting parts though as there wasn't a real clear path to follow every where. Some paths turned out to be one way only and the cards made it very clear in an aggressiv way that we couldn't go back.
Having visited the Schindler museum before it gave us the shivers how the cards treated us, not making any effort to be nice or explain anything just yelling in polish.
This was an experience quite unlike our general experience with mostly friendly people in Poland.
Only go here if you are really into this kind of ancient history

Has any one how much the cost is of a taxi from airport to Krakow's main square is ?
Sootydee
Rochdale, UK35 contributions
There really is no need to take a taxi. The train station is in the airport and it's so easy and cheap, about £2. Train is signposted well. We had never been to Krakow before but honestly is really easy.
Hope you have an amazing time, we loved it.
