WW2 started here.

I'm a light-house buff and this one is important from a historical point of vue (re: start of WWII) but there isn't much to see and do and it's quite a schlep from downtown Gdandsk

We visited as part of a circular cycling route. Glad we came across it but would have been disappointed if had made a special trip. Its not expensive (by UK standards) but time you've paid the entrance for a family of 5 its not good value. All you do is climb the stairs, take in a couple of [not overly... More

Our Polish guide made this apparently unprepossessing lighthouse a worthwhile visit. Apparently the first shots of WW2 were fired from this building and there is a memorial to those who defended the peninsular on the opposite bank. The small Polish garrison on Westerplatte held off a much larger and better armed German force for 7 days. The design is based... More

See it from the river trip and save yourselves the hassle of going - on wrong side of the river from the Westerplast and miles away from the city. It looks nice but I fear it would struggle to entertain for more than 5 mins and the effort in going there would not be rewarded.

Visiting this lighthouse was one of our must's in Gdansk as it belongs to one of most important places of Polish history. Building is in very good condition and there are a lot information panels, where you can read about its history. But I don't think I will come again.

bit out of the way, not a place I would go to if pressed for time, but the view from the top is fab. Then again, you can climb the church or cathedral in old town and have fab view too, though of course very different to the sea view. Worth a visit if you have a car and plenty... More

Very nice lighthouse, it is not close to anything touristic, except for the Ferries that come from Stockholm so if you have some time to spare then come…it is an interesting lighthouse that has a working time ball (as well as Auckland and Greenwich lighthouses). Also from one of these windows were fired the first shots of WWII…come and enjoy... More

Me and a friend got lost whilst looking for the lighthouse and would recommend getting public transport or renting a car as we came across some scary neighbourhoods. The lighthouse was very pretty and a nice touch to the town. However, do not go out your way to see this. You are not missing out on anything major-would much prefer... More

We went there, pay 10 zl for person I believe and went to the upper part. View was nice, on the sea or on the Gdansk with many pictures about history - beginning of the 2nd WW.

It was closed when I visited in October. It is a little out of the way and can be difficult to find however it is very beautiful and atmospheric. A true landmark with a lot of history. The history of the lighthouse is printed on a board outside so it is still worth a little detour when closed.
