About
Just 212 steps down to enter the labyrinth’s winding passages The passageways in the Labyrinth under the Vegetable Market lead to unique and mysterious places, including medieval cellars hidden six to eight metres below ground. Visitors learn how food, wine, and beer were once stored and how this underground space used to be lit, and also see a collection of archaeological findings. The tour also visits an alchemist’s laboratory and recalls the doctors, pharmacists, and physicists who lived in Brno and made the city famous throughout Europe. An old wine cellar and a period tavern are reminders of the local tradition of winemaking. Replicas of a pillory and a cage of fools, both of which were located at the town marketplace in the 17th century, evoke the darker side of life a few centuries ago. The tour also introduces some of the punishments that awaited dishonest craftsmen, traders, and merchants.

Worth doing.
Oct 2020
More extensive than we expected, and the labyrinth is on many levels (lowest 11 metres where there is some standing water to walk through) Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable, and had no problem switching to English when necessary.
The printed guide is 13 pages long, and as others have mentioned impossible to read in reduced light, but the live guide is more than enough.
Worth 40 minutes of your time.

Poor organised

There wasn't an English guide, so they gave us few papers with notes about the place. But you can barely read there because it's so dark. I also didn’t find the visit too interesting but maybe it’s because of the lack of a guide.

Well worth the few Korunas to visit!

A guided tour of bygone times when the tunnels beneath the Vegetable market were used for storing fruit/veg, wine a drinking establishment, also an apothecary and a variety of torture chambers and equipment. Staged really well with atmospheric lighting and some really interesting ancient objects to peruse. For English guide please hire the audio device which is very simple to use. Please also be aware that there are several stony steps to walk up and down between each tunnel as you make your way down to the depths and back up again, but none too difficult for able bodied. Plus there is a short section of tunnel deep in the bowels which is quite wet underfoot so you might want to wear appropriate shoes. An enjoyable and thought provoking experience!

Fascinating historical insight

A very intersting visit beneath the cabbage market. Very clean and cool. A number of exhibits throughout the tunnels. We joined a guided tour but the whole commentary was in Czech. We were given sheets of notes in English to keep upto speed with whats going on. We enjoyed the visit but it only lasts around 40 minutes.

Well organised

Enjoyed our visit here. It's well organised and there is an audio guide in several languages you can follow ic unable to speak Czech. They have laid out the tunnels and chambers to cover different themes and details about everyday life. Worth the visit, just get there in plenty of time or pop in to pre-book the say before as it looks like it gets fairly busy and you may get turned away, as you are not allowed down without a guide. Discount for over 60s - we forgot to ask and found out too late

I fully recommend you visit if you get the time. It is a guided tour that’s very interesting and informative. It’s suited to all ages but so note there are plenty of steps so may not be too well suited to anyone that tires easily or struggles with stairs.

An Interesting Experience !
Dec 2019
This is hard to find but , Tourist Information were helpful as the sign outside it is small . It is best to buy tickets in advance as , they are timed tickets lead by a guide . The guide did not speak English but , you got an audio guide and the guide himself told you which stop you were at on your audio guide plus , there are clearly labelled signs for such stopping places on the walls . It was interesting to hear , the history of the labyrinth and , how it was used in the past . Whist it was very cold above ground when we visited , it was warmer than I expected underground and , in my winter coat I sweated quite a lot !

Very unpleasant receptionist

Somewhat rude and nervous explaining that the tour was not possible to start. Please note that it is advisable to reserve your participation. We had travelled from Bratislava (1 hours drive) specially for this tour. Very disappointed.

Interesting Labyrinth Under the Vegetable Market
Oct 2019
This is a chance to go under the cabbage market square and explore what used to be a specialised storage space for the market holders. The guide is really only there to take you down into the tunnels and guide you through. You’re actually given an audio guide for information about the different parts of the tunnels, how each section was used etc. At each station in the tunnels, the guide lets you know which number on the audio guide to use. There even used to be a tavern underground.

Apart from the guide being clearly bored by his job, I found the tour quite interesting simply because I’d never come across such a use. If you’ve never been down tunnels and unused to the dark, then I think you’re in for a double treat.
