Very nice museum with some minor drawbacks
Jul 2020 • Family
One of the reasons to come back to Brno was that we missed this museum last time.

We looked this museum a lot. There are many different exhibitions. Of course we liked the cars. Both the Lada's were a trip down memory lane for me. My best friends dad used to have a Lada shop.

Since I work in IT, the old computer stuff was great to see. The old game Room was a trip down memory lane as well.

The bottom floor, with the open turbines and aircraft engines was interesting to see as well.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, however, they are only able to speak Czech. That's something which applies to the whole museum. It's focus is strictly czech. As a result of which there is a huge exhibition about the Czech history and the falling off the iron curtain.

I rated it the maximum of 5 stars, even when there are some drawbacks for foreigners. What didn't catch my interest is surely interesting for others. The game Room could have been a bit more hands on. It would be so nice of there were a few arcades from the past. The experimental centre at the top floor really needs English information. Luckily I paid attention at school and could explain some to my son.

We spent around 3,5 hours in here on a hot day. It is advisable to go on a less hot day, since it is a pity to spent such day inside and the airco inside can't deal with such heat.

All in all, very nice experience.

The museum night well spent

I am a bit biased, as I would always recommend anyone to check museums in the area, but this one is a must see for all nostalgics, engineering and technology fans out there. The ancestors of today's technology are on the display there, which makes a great place to take your kids to see.

Wonderful, welcoming museum.

We were fortunate enough to visit this museum when it was open until midnight and families were encouraged to visit. The place was buzzing with excited children and adults exploring the many exhibits with live demonstrations and plenty of staff on hand
We were fortunate to have English speaking friends with us for exhibits with no translation, but it would have been possible to enjoy the experience without their help. There are plenty of interactive exhibits which children are encouraged to try.
Access is easy from the city centre via the tram system.
The museum is closed on Mondays

Awesome for people who love machines, mostly in Czech
Sep 2019
This was quite a nice museum, and it was larger than I expected. There were a wide variety of topics, so most everyone will find something they are interested in. For example, there are old cars, huge turbine machinery, Braille printing, instrument mechanics, and metallurgy, among others. A few exhibits had full English translations, but most did not, and for those, the only English was a floating info sheet with general information about the topic. This place would be really great for kids because it has little activities for them all over, plus a big experimentation/play area on the top story.

Easy to reach and a very interesting museum

The museum is easy to reach by tram. One employee was so lovely and showed us many things about pianos and old music players. She spoke only Czech but that didn’t matter at all her kindness and enthusiasm was priceless!
I highly recommend this place to technology lovers, or movie addicted. They have a nice collection about old cameras. Also you can try several physical experiments which was very fun. There is something for sure for every age ;)

Quick easy visit.

Well presented with a good selection of historical technical advancements. Should be able to find anything to please, cars, motorcycles, the history of the racetrack, to computers, cameras telecommunication and space technology. Even a few aircraft outside. Great place to relax for a few hours or on a rainy day. Good representation of electric engines as well. Well done and not breaking the bank while doing it.

A little bit old. Re-innovation required. A lot of interesting technical exhibits and so intrusive staff.
Old cars and old computers are my favorite.

Perfect for Tech Lovers (Autos, Photography, Telecommunications, & Computers)
May 2019 • Friends
Museum contains several areas of focus. The auto & motorcycle section covers the early develop in Bohemia thru the Communist era. Much appreciated by Western car enthusiasts.

Photography covers early box cameras to the electron microscope. Pays tributes to those who made significant contributions along the way.

Computer Tech covers early adding machines thru mainframe & mini computer development in a simulated computer room. Also chronicles development of PCs (IBM XP) thru laptops and tables. A separate section follows the development of radio and television. Great for tech geeks!!

There are other sections on steam engines, mechanical music players, jet engines, iron metallurgy, and early metal casting techniques.
