The area
Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

A disaster dinner that happened half way
Jul 2020 • Family
It was a recommendation from a tour guide to come here for a traditional beer and food experience. The beer was ok (all beer is good in this city), my daughter’s appetizer was a good sausage in tomato sauce. My burger was tragically burned like a witch during the inquisition , my husbands goulash was cold as ice and when we asked if these 2 things could be fixed the response was they cook that way, take it or leave it. We left it.
The beer salon manager made the point the kitchen is a separate entity from the brewery and not the feel the whole experience was kitchen driven as the managers are different.
Any way, long made short. Decent beer, good beer master service, terrible kitchen service, inconsistent food and a night that ended with a mc Donald’s cheese burger.

Food good, service mixed
Dec 2019 • Couples
We came along on quite a busy evening, and we're told we'd need to wait for a table - fair play, this isn't uncommon in Prague. After about ten minutes we were seated, but after that had to wait nearly half an hour to make our order! Other patrons were resorting to shouting across the restaurant to get the attention of wait staff. We were on the verge of getting up and leaving.

Once we were served, our waitress was polite but clearly in a mad rush. Food arrived quite quickly after that, though, and getting our bill at the end wasn't quite as much of an ordeal.

The food and beer are what claw this review back up to a three, as they really were rather good. The "Czech Burger" was a great novelty piece, several typical Czech meals combined and plated up to resemble a burger.

In conclusion: if it looks empty, give it a try; if it looks busy, take a hike. Not worth that much of a wait.

I visit Prague regularly. I'm not fluent in Czech but everywhere I go my request for two beers please in Czech is understood. Not here. We've just encountered wait staff who insisted we repeat our order in English before she would process it, and had the attitude which suggested we were ruining her day. It's always hopeless service in here and I can't think why I've ended up in here again. No fool like an old fool I suppose. Avoid.

The beer was good, waiters angry🤬😤
Jul 2019 • Couples
The staff must be underpaid they are so angry.... But that being said even thou I had to fight with my daughter to stay as she was mad at the rude staff I totally enjoyed my dark beer and amazing streudle.... It was so delicious and came with whipped cream. I personally would order it without the chocolate as it ruins the simple flavor. They have a brew icecream I would like to try.... So I will probably be back.

They do have some live music which was nice and outdoor seating. But wifi only in the front few tables..... Was a pain getting wifi had to deal with a bunch of rude staff.... Needed to let my husband know where we ended up for beer so took some persistence on my part....

The worst service we seen in Prague
Jul 2019 • Couples
We have asked for the Daily menu at 14:25 at this place and the waiter denied to provide it explaining that it is only for local offices, however at the entrance of the restaurant menu was advertised with no limits mentioned. After we asked again for the menu they said it is not served anymore and the table next to us who arrived after us received menu with no problems.
Basically this place want to take advantage of the tourists discriminating on public offer. The treatment was really drastic - and we decide to live.
You decide yourself but there are many much better places around with way better service ;)

Nice restaurant in the tourist ghetto
Jul 2019 • Couples
We hade a late meal at U Medvidku, a well known restaurant in the center, and were surprised over the good food, the good service and, of course, the affordable price - as every meal in Prague. We had spiral sausage and duck with tabboule. Not too heavy, good vegetables. Thanks!

Avoid the soup...
Jun 2019
Serve reasonably pleasant and found us a nice table; which was a pleasant contrast as we have found most Prague serving staff to be not particularly friendly bordering on rude. The smoked sausage was good, local beer great however the ‘hearty soup’ was a very thin and tasteless broth. Overall did not meet our expectations.

Absolutely amazing beer.

U Medvidku is one of my must go brewpubs in Prague, on any holiday I take to this most beautiful of cities I always make a beeline here as the beers and meals are absolutely first rate .
U Medvidku offers something for everyone, kegged beers, bottled beers,a microbrewery and a tankova ( Budvar ) all housed in a multi roomed ,multi level brewpub ,I love the look of the brewpub ,arched ceilings, white washed walls ,great decor and furnishings, on the top floor theres the big brew vats and a souvenir kiosk, theres also plenty of seating options spread throughout this brewpub ,its just a cool place to unwind in.
My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a beautiful sunny afternoon, we got seats upstairs by the brewing vats as the downstairs was packed,a very pleasant member of staff served us an oldgott half dark lager each ,this delicious beer was served in excellent condition, we just chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular brewpub.
My beer was outstanding, oldgott half dark lager is fermented in oak barrels, it's got a really distinct taste, very easy to drink, a beer style I really enjoy.
This pub brews one of the strongest beers in the world called X Beer 33,its a beer not for the faint hearted, I've tried it before on previous visits to here and it's a unique beer but I stayed away from it on this visit,I've read a previous reviewer comparing it to skol lager ( eh no ,not really ,not never, move on ) .
We really enjoyed our beers in here and the great vibe so much so that we ended up staying for another beer each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
U Medvidku is easy to locate on a street called Na Perstyne in the wonderful Old Town, an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, 11.30am till 11pm.
A great brewpub, well worth checking out if your in the area.

Only went for the x-33 beer, quite glad really!
Feb 2019 • Friends
After seeing a few vlogs on Prague, this place was mentioned a few times because of the beer. We decided to give it a go, it's pretty easy to find but the whole lay-out is confusing.

Theres a restaurant that you have to just walk through, all the way to the back, go up quite a few flights of stairs to get to the Brewery. Staff are not friendly, and no one seemed to want to help us find the right way.

Anyway, once we found the brewery we ordered the X-33, a small one is 100czk and a large is 200 czk. I thought it tasted pretty nice (I'm a non beer drinker) whereas the men thought it tasted a little like Skol super (if you're of the age!) they thought it was quite tar like and thick, non the less we all drank our drinks.

There was no one in the brewery when we were there, staff basically ignored you - fine by us. Would we return...no, glad we went.. yes just to say we've done it.

Oh and by the way the beer wasn't strong.

Reluctant & Rude, Antipatik
Dec 2018 • Friends
I would not be quite radical if I say this; however I am inhabitant of Prague last 5 years and this place one of weird place which is lack of good management, proper chef or organizer who will educate, train the stuff more customer oriented and welcoming, friendly way. I mean whole stuffs must change, from A to Z workers are suffering to work there as they are working without having money. They do not know how to behave customers, because they perceive all people tourist and if one group if enter there, they will never come again. I mean this is terrible, we wanted to have beers even in Brewery section, they did not accepted us even we were told that we can not sit if you don’t eat there in a very rude way. In previous time also we were behaved very rudely there. I mean guys, if you don’t like it what you are doing so not stay there, we do not want to pay to get stressed and got insult. Regards.
