After a visit to the castle, make sure you walk down this delightfully quaint little street! If you go after 17h00 it is free!

I would recommend if visiting the castle complex, purchase a ticket for access to this historic street. There is a little tavern, psychic's house and lots more. An artillery corridor runs along the top of the houses but you'd never know from outside . Quaint little houses on an old cobbled street. A must see!

The Golden Lane is a small street and is located on the grounds of the Prague Castle between the Dalibor Tower and the White Tower. The castle is located on a 300 foot hill on the west bank of the Vltava River (near the center of Prague). The small houses on this tiny street are made to look like they... More

This is a small lane with a few Medieval 'shops', all brightly coloured, which doesn't make it feel very medieval. A few of the shops sell trinkets, and above them (and below) is a small museum with armour, implements of torture etc. It's all very crammed and must be a nightmare in summer. If this wasn't part of the ticket,... More

The castle is free to get in but various things inside the grounds require payment. However, take note that this is free to everyone after 4pm. The time may change with the seasons but I was here in March. It's a small maybe 100/150 yards in length near one of the castle exits that leads to Malostranka. The houses are... More

After presenting your ticket you walk in to the street of really quaint houses each slightly different to the one next to it. They are a mixture of little craft/souvenir shops and houses left as they originally would have been. They act like a museum and are really interesting. We really enjoyed our visit and thought after the Cathedral it... More

This is inside Prague Castle so if you happen to visit the castle, you might as well walk through the Golden Lane on your way out. It's near the exit. Cute brightly colored houses but that's about it.

This area is included within the price of your admission ticket to the Castle so is worth visiting. It is a row of coloured little houses along a narrow lane leading downwards. Some of the cottages have been left as they would have been many years ago and showcase the way of life of the people who used to reside... More

Shopping is not on my priority list but with the hype that you had to pay to access this lane and could only visit once per ticket I was expecting more to see. It's free to enter after 4pm so if you are not purchasing tickets for elsewhere, go then if you truly want to see it.

You need a ticket (included with the multi site Prague Castle admission) to visit this site albuilt into the castle wall. Consisting of very tiny homes that served the soldiers/tradesmen of the castle, they are now shops and displays. While not well marked, you can climb up to the top of the wall and walk along the inside where defenders... More

Staying in Hradcany & Letna

Neighbourhood Profile
Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.
