Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

What it would be to be a govt. official 😃
Jul 2016 • Business
I feel the Czech govt officials have one additional perk as compared to their counterparts else where. They get to operate out of beautiful historic buildings.

The Tuscany palace, which is a beautiful 400 year old building now houses one of the government offices. I think it is the foreign affairs ministry. But that aside, it makes for a good dekko from outside on your way to the Prague castle.

It was so nice walking around that building near the castle last weekend. We very much enjoyed the colors all around as it was very unique and beautiful.

An Elegant Palace!
Aug 2015 • Family
The Tuscany Palace or Toskánský palác was built when several smaller houses belinging to the Lobkowitz family were demolished. Count Thun of Hohestein began the construction of this building in 1690, so that he could establish himself grandly near the Prague Castle. He died during it's construction and the incomplete palace was purchased by Anna Marie Frances, Duchess of Tuscany, in 1718. She got this building completed. It is a majestic triple storied Baroque structure with 4 wings, a huge courtyard and 2 fountains. It's facade has beautiful decorations like 7 seven sculptures depicting the the seven liberal arts and two court of arms of Tuscany. The palace was completely renovated in early 20th century and is now the office of Ministry of Foreging Affairs of the Czech Republic. The first floor is sometimes open for general public.
