There are several Baroque churches in Prague and this is another... but it also has a wax doll of the infant Jesus that has been in a glass case for centuries and cures illnesses for believers. A throwback to the days when the Catholic Church profited from venerating relics and remains.

I visited about 15 churches in Prague - both Catholic and Eastern Orthodox. I do not know why, but I think this is my favorite church in Prague, although in tourist guides you will be directed to other more famous churches in the city. It is right at the tram stop and is easily reached. Despite its name among tourists... More

I grew up seeing the "Infant of Prague" statue on my grandmothers dresser. Never sure of the story behind it or its significance. I happened upon it by accident and it was surreal. Very quiet, reverent atmosphere. I read the story, saw the plaques giving thanks based on the the miracles performed, If you walk to the right of the... More

I had heard a number of tales related to the significance of this church and its adoration of of the infant Jesus. For the devout of yesteryear, and for many still today, this is a focal point of their devotion. The church itself is another of the many truly beautiful churches in Prague. Architecture and art are outstanding. The focal... More

Situated in the Mala strand side off the city this is a beautiful church and is home to the Child Jesus Statue. It is hard not to get a feeling of peace and serenity here. A beautiful place and highly recommended.

It's always been in my list of places to visit when in Prague. Went on a Sunday afternoon to purposely go to its gift shop. It closes at about 530pm, just in time for the last mass of the day. Perfect place to buy Infant Jesus of Prague souvenirs and holy water. The church itself is quite quaint. The holy... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
